I think you will find that 99% of training companies will only offer courses to qualified healthcare professionals.Cymru am Byth !!! :j:j:j0 -
Let me add my two pennorth: To obtain Botox - which is prescription only medicine- requires a prescription from either a Doctor or an Independent Nurse Prescriber. You MUST be a Doctor, Dentist or a Registered Nurse - you CANNOT do a beauty course with 'Botox training added'; at least not legally, and if you did, the specialist insurance companies that provide cover will not accept you.
The training is fairly expensive - about £650 for the Botox course, and £650 for the Dermal fillers course.
Insurance is about £700 ish.
Then there are advanced courses on top of this - not cheap!
Hope this clears up some misconceptions....
Croesus is spot on here with this info....Cymru am Byth !!! :j:j:j0 -
I was under the impression you had to be a nurse prescriber otherwise you needed it prescribed by a doctor. We've just set up an arrrangement with a doctor now to prescribe for us.
You can order it without a prescription. Then you have to get a prescription written by the doctor/nurse prescriber who sees & reviews the patient prior to Botox being given. Remote prescribing/directions are against the NMC Standards for Medicines Management. As per the new NMC circular on Botox Administration. I have a GP prescribe for me, after he has reviewed my patient himself. The prescription is then valid for a year, during which time I can give the Botox.0 -

Thats the same way we are doing it. GP reviews patient, then prescribes and orders the botox for us.Cymru am Byth !!! :j:j:j0 -

Hi I am an independant nurse prescriber and thinking of setting up a business in asthetic cosmetics (botox etc), have done loads of research and know where I'm going with courses, insurance etc. How do you get round the ordering of the botox, MHRA say independant prescribers cannot legally order wholesale stocks of botox??0

We have a doctor who we fax patient health questionaires to. If necessary he then rings the patient to speak to them. Otherwise, he just wqrites the prescription and orders the botox for us from the supplier.
Charges £40 per new patient and £20 for repeat patient.Cymru am Byth !!! :j:j:j0 -
Being a bit nosey here! How did you go about getting a Dr onside? As an independant prescriber I can legally prescribe and administer the botox, just can't order it!!0
