I've now opened the regular branch saver 8 and made the first payment. Account opening goes like clockwork now - the branch is a cashless one so I just go home, make a faster payment on the same day and set up a standing order for the subsequent ones.

My appointment is Thursday, I am hoping that it will be as quick as the others, My branch does have cash tills, so I make the first payment in cash then top up from home, so I can add it to the other 13 I have listed online banking FP.
Looking forward to some cash back from both Issue 3 and Issue 2 maturing next month.

We didn't realise you could have one of each issue...so we missed out on 2 & 3 before we realised (thanks to this thread - well the old one!!), so we have a bit of a gap in our maturities. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.38% of current retirement "pot" (as at end April 2024)0

I have the full set of Virgin Money RS accounts, online and "store". I also opened a Virgin CA, purely as feeder for the RS, and I send the maturity proceeds there as well. Now there is a stable, predictable pattern of new and maturing Virgin RS accounts, with cash flows in/out roughly in balance, so I don't need to commit any new money to Virgin: I can just withdraw the interest on each maturing RS. (There's interest on the CA as well).0

Halifax RS (2.00%) must be closed in branch but is available immediately (with full accrued interest)
Halifax RS (2.50%) can be reapplied for and opened online following day
Needed cash quickly and closed my Virgin E Saver 3 online
Took about 60 seconds
Money cleared, available and in receiving account within 30 minutes (with full accrued interest)

thanks for this re the Halifax.
I think I am going to wait until February 1st to restart my Halifax regular saver and then it will be the same start date as most of the others. Only First Direct and Marks have mid month dates.
(Yes I know there is always the risk of the regular saver being closed to new deposits, the interest rate dropping or a meteorite dropping in the next week)
It also fits in well as the maturity of the new Halifax regular will then be in February 2019 which only has one other regular saver maturing later in the month. My current Halifax regular saver was to have matured in June 2018 which already had 2 maturity dates - so this spreads them out much better.
And the donor account was getting worryingly low so that's another issue resolved.“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0
