The Bit in Bold sounds like me - apart from a few sentimental stuff, I can usually agree to get rid of things, my problem is what to do with it. Like you, I hate the feeling of adding to landfill, so spend so much time sorting, then distributing between charity shops, a friend who does table sales, other friends who 'might' have a use for things and then finally Ragbags (if appropriate), that the whole process of clearing out takes much longer than it really should. I also do the same with MIL if she is throwing out something good, I'll offer to take it and find a good home for it (cue it spending several weeks in the car while I think about it :rotfl:). Need to stop - am actively resisting bringing things into the house, including really thinking about packaging materials in an attempt to keep the tide of 'stuff' at bay.
That's it exactly!!! I've bags of wool and rolls of fabric up stairs 'rescued' from my mothers. I didn't have the energy to take more, but perfectly good carpets got thrown out. I've found an art teacher who's thrilled to take it. But that took a lot of effort. Sure I could split it up, sell it, etc... but that's time. I do sew and knit, but maybe a cushion or I knitted a pencil case, I'd never ever get through what's up stairs.
We were clearing her attic for insulation. The problem is she still enjoys shopping , so there is still a flow of stuff coming in to her house. But if she's happy, I just hate when I see things going to waste.
Im just trying to get more efficient at finding people to take things.0 -

I finally got to the charity shop with a bag of stuff from sorting out the kitchen this week:
316:metal easter chocolate egg mould
317-318:2 beach buckets
319-320:2 plastic cereal boxes and lids
321:slushy making cup
322:ceramic cooking dish
I then went to IKEA and returned some items that I had also found in the kitchen cupboards this week, complete with receipt.Walked straight to customer service desk, got refund, resisted buying meatballs for lunch ,and came out £29 richer :j.
So they were items
323-326: 4 cereal /dry food containers
327-332:6 shelves used so you can see tins etc at the back of pantry.
I am still getting over the fact that you can return stuff to IKEA up to 12 months after you have bought it .
I am also a bit shocked that I was able to find the receipt this long after purchase :rotfl::rotfl:.
Edited: I seem to have forgotten to mention that when decluttering kitchen the other day,I also threw out

I have just looked back through the 2027 declutter thread,[STRIKE]and I am begind.I thought I was doing alright.[/STRIKE] Actually,I am not behind-I just thought I would have been further ahead than last year.I am ahead in numbers out of the house, just not overall.
By this time last year,I had 230 items out of the house, and 131 out of the loft, total of 361
So far this year,I have 333 items out of the house, and 29 out of the loft, total of 362
