New plan...time to see some movement! 23rd Aug 18 at 3:29 PM
    Hello!

I've decided it's time for a new diary. I've been doing a lot of thinking recently and have come up with a new plan.

My debt is all at 0% on my DMP and is just clearing, albeit very slowly at 1 a month. This will increase when little miss gets her free hours at nursery next year.

Our mortgage is 118,511 and the only interest bearing debt, on a tracker rate so vulnerable to interest rate rises. I'm very happy with the rate though, and we can make unlimited overpayments, so for the time being, not looking to fix.

I still need to pay back 2400 for my car.

We need to start doing some of the work to the house that we've been putting off for years. So we need to get saving for that before it gets to a stage where we have no choice but to do the work as an emergency.

My new plan therefore is that I am going to let the DMP run itself, focus on paying back the car, the mortgage and saving for the house work. I will be trying to build the emergency fund/F&F fund, so that if my creditors offer a settlement I will hopefully be able to take advantage.

I hope that by changing my focus I will keep my motivation rather than getting fed up about not seeing any progress towards my debts. The mortgage will go down regardless of whether I manage to make overpayments, and hopefully the savings will increase!

I've done all the upstairs windows. It's very clear that replacing windows is an urgent house job that needs doing. I will have to discuss with DH. The frames are all rotten, bits are perishing and there is no sealant between some of the windows and the walls so damp is getting in.

I haven't achieved much more. I'm currently listing away

I discovered I'd accidentally deleted some items I was selling so have reinstated them. Listing some new stuff from the kids and DH.

I managed to break little miss's bed yesterday I'm just waiting to hear about one on FB and hopefully we can get that today.

I think decluttering something before you clean it is a great plan - always makes you more willing to get of more stuff just because you can't bring yourself to clean it and put it back and see it unused.

Are you better doing one room at a time or one job at a time? I find I'm better doing a job. So clean all the windows upstairs, dust all of upstairs, hoover all of upstairs. Rather than do one room start to finish.

Keep up all the amazing enthusiasm. You're doing amazingly xxx

I agree that cleaning is much easier when you've de-cluttered as it's so tiring to have to keep moving things out of the way. That's why my house it not as clean as I'd like but I want to de-clutter first to make the cleaning easier.

I hope all your items sell, you're amazing doing all that time consuming listing.

I hope you find another bed for Little Miss.

I do a bit of both. Things like hoovering I'll do everywhere. The same with the windows. Otherwise I'll do room by room.

I haven't done an awful lot today. DH was working so me and the kids wandered around the car boot sale, went to the playpark and came home and made some cakes.

It was a bit messy so the kitchen floor got swept and mopped I made a start on doing the cupboard fronts with the steam cleaner. They've got wooden slats in them which are so grubby and have 50 years of muck ground in. The one I've done has come up quite well, I'm pleased

15 parcels also packed and ready to go tomorrow

I did 31 listings yesterday too

I've been a busy bee this morning. Little miss is at nursery so we walked over instead of driving. Free exercise, better for the environment and better for my purse

Little jwil is happy doing his own thing (he likes to take advantage of little miss not being here and spread his lego all over the front room), so I've nearly finished upstairs. Finished cleaning the bathroom and floor and sorted out and cleaned out the airing cupboard. I've got a few bits to go as well I've managed to get a lot of the stuff we stored on the floor and the windowsill into the airing cupboard now so it should look much tidier and be easier to clean

I've had a scrub of the black mould mark with bleach but it hasn't completely shifted it, just lightened it. I might get some black mould remover.

I just need to dust and de-cobweb and hoover upstairs now.

While I was doing all that I had sprayed the oven with cleaner, so have now cleaned that out as well. I think that's going to need to be replaced soon as some of the back inside is starting to flake away. Hopefully it will last a bit longer!

Finished a book this afternoon, and put a couple more out as well.

I've not finished upstairs yet, but have done the window in the kitchen and made a start on cleaning the appliances. The kitchen window was filthy, it looks so much brighter now. I must get hunting for a new blind, the one there is so difficult to clean and is very old and yellowed anyway. I've got a 10 argos voucher so might see if they've got anything.

Going to try and do a few listings now.
