For a quiet life go!
However ensure you check websites such as loco2 to see if they can offer cheaper tickets and invest in a two together card or other railcard..0 -
LOL how, exactly, is this a moral dilemma?
So, imagine everyone here says, "You shouldn't have to pay, you're right not to go", then you can show the forum to your GF and I'm sure you'll never need to go again - as your relationship will be instantly over :rotfl:0 -
- Split your ticket OR
- Split from your girlfriend

Isn't this something to discuss with your girlfriend?
Rubbish moral dilemma; this is just a relationship question.0 -

I've no idea why these people who contact MSE with a MMD can't see that it makes more sense to talk to the person concerned than read the opinions of random strangers on t'interweb. :rotfl:
(most of whom don't take these MMDs seriously anyway )0 -
There’s a good chance your gf’s mum would sometimes like to see her daughter without you there! As others have suggested maybe you go every 3rd visit.0

Why aren't you booking the eyewateringly expensive rail tickets in advance?!!
It's stupid not to
Of course you should also be honest with your girlfriend and tell her that you're finding it too expensive
I presume you don't earn much and you're not just complaining for the sake of it?0 -
So, you don't want her to be your girlfriend for much longer then??0
-
Tell her to buy her own ticket, and only go if you want to. If that breaks the relationship it was not worth having. Would she still expect you to go if you married and had mortgage and other expenses? Simple.0

I like pollycats suggestion of asking if the mother can visit and only being one rail fare - that is if the mother is able
Dont ask your girlfriend to contribute, but you dont need to go ever time, surelyThe opposite of what you know...is also true0
