Try used tea bags soaked with olbas oil on bare soil - cats hate the smell and the teabags blend in with the earth.

Have a plant sprayer filled with water ready to go - a few good squirts should divert their interests elsewhere (only works if you are at home, of course!)

For future reference if anybody else is reading this and wanting to lay shingle, we found that when we had pea shingle put down the cats made a beeline for it. We had it covered with some half inch grade shingle and that sorted the problem, they don't like digging in the bigger stones.

Mines big shingle. They don't dig, they just go on top and leave it!

That is poisonous to cats

As is anti freeze and many other things, although granted she doesn't put that on her garden.

Are you certain that it's cats? They are usually very clean animals and rarely leave their poo uncovered.

Are you sure the culprits are cats? They usually like something more diggable, so they can bury their doings.

Well they certainly leave it in my garden......although i have had some success with a pump action supersoaker gun filled with water & white vinegar on a particular tabby cat twice:D

Yep, I have seen them do it right in front of me and they don't scare easily either!

I can't think what it's called, it but it looks like little blobs of nuclear green jelly and garden centres sell it. A good sniff certainly clears the sinuses - and cats (and dogs) hate the smell.
