Hi there,
Would be very grateful for some advice, we are getting married in Spain in September 2019 we have to pay for the event in euros circa 7000 euros.
Given that it is quite a significant amountis there a particular method which would maximise my money ie cost me less GBP sterling?
We're not in a position to pay for it all upfront, we could pay an initial chunk and then will be in a position to make regular payments smaller throughout the next 2 years or pay a large chunk in say 18 months time.
We do have family in Spain whom have spanish bank accounts etc so we would have that option if that would be beneficial to us.
Any advice or experience will be greatly received.
Thanks in advance.
Mark.

Why not ask in an appropriate forum? - CCE went bust years back!0

Do you have the option to pay by credit card? You could use a reputable FX transfer company such as Moneycorp, but while they are unlikely to go bust while transferring your cash (they are not protected under UK banking rules- but have been around for years) if the Spanish operator goes bust, or is a scam, you'll lose your cash.
Using a CC is in effect, insuring your money against fraud or failure; maybe spreading it if you only have a few£k limit? I wouldn't even do a bank transfer for £6-7k to a UK company upfront as it isn't protected.
Maybe even get the best credit cards such as a Halifax Clarity- which uses an advantageous rate with low fees?

Even if you trust 'em and do a cash transfer, don't use you own bank.0 -
I expect they have sorted it by now!0
