I just placed an order to switch to Now TV, but now they tell me I am unable to keep my landline number. Very disappointed :(

Edited as requested to say Now TV told me once I had placed the order, that they were 'unable to transfer numbers from the Post Office'

Port it to a Voice over IP (VoIP provider) with the port set to the day before you switch to Now TV (the port will cease your existing line/account, then Now will reconnect).
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.

I just had an online chat with Now TV customer services and they said they were unable to transfer phone numbers from the post office and the only option I would have would be to cancel my order.

We were just looking at NOW TV, thanks for posting.....although for me, the only call I get is from my elderly Dad:)
Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!

You're not the first poster here to encounter this problem with Now TV:

I switched from Sky to NowTV broadband and was told the same (Sky own NowTV). No idea why, but the cold calls have totally disappeared so there is a silver lining.

Actually, randomly, over the years, we get some obscene phone calls very early in the morning for a couple of days, then they stop, then after months we get another - yes, this would stop them!!!

We transferred from BT to NOW and kept the landline number we have had for years.

I didn't know about the ex-PO restriction and wonder if there are any others.

    Yes, but which ones specifically?

I believe that the common denominator here is TalkTalk who will not release the number like other providers do in time for Now to complete the transfer, therefore so that they do not lose the new contract, Now have no option than to allocate a new number that TalkTalk have no control over.

Many people have transferred from other non TalkTalk related providers and I have only seen this problem where TalkTalk is involved i.e. Post Office is simply a reseller of TalkTalk and there will be several other companies that TalkTalk have swallowed up over the years.

    Another shameful TalkTalk tactic!
