Weekly purse clear-out produced about 80p so 50p went in the pot and the rest in the bottle. Every little helps...

9/ "Where to take bags of cash at the end of the year?": With regards to this all important question, here's vital help from girl at play: "I bank with Bank of Scotland and they accept as many change bags as you have, as long as you take them to the business banking counter." Thank you so much GAP, it's so handy for members to know. This applies to many banks, I suspect most banks/building societies are the same if truth be known. Remember also that most banks have counting machines, so any of you who really don't like counting money, take them in and let the machine do the counting for you; you'll get a receipt which you then take to the counter. PLEASE - DON'T EVER CHANGE IT IN ONE OF THE COINSTAR MACHINES AT THE ENTRANCES OF SUPER MARKETS.... THEY WILL TAKE AROUND 10% OF YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!!

Just a heads-up (a little early, sorry it's just in my brain right now!) and possibly useful note on the back of this point from the 'rules' (sorry if you already know) but HSBC have coin-counting machines which you can use free if you're a customer (this includes bank accounts run by HSBC but under other names like Marks & Spencer)

Also worth noting that all LBG banks now limit you to five bags a day so thats Lloyds, Halifax, Bank Of Scotland, (not sure about TSB)

I do use Natwest coin counting machine, but my local Natwest is closing and HSBC went earlier in the summer, so it will be a trip to the next town to find one.

Saver - upper. That made I laaaf hearing things your other half says, (or wot yer uvver aaff sez ). My wife's a Londoner and I think will totally get where you're coming from. My daughter wrote in some of her homework about being 'led in bed'. Wife was hopping mad with her whilst I was thinking 'what's wrong with that?' :)

That made me [STRIKE]laaaf[/STRIKE] laugh out loud (at 1.30am!).
When my 15yo was in nursery, her best friend (still great friends now),who has a verrrrryyyy broad Bristol accent, would say things like "Can I have a glass of war'er (water) to drink",and "Can I go to the toilegh (toilet)." Daughter started copying,it sounded dreadful, and I was forever correcting her. After a couple of months I spoke to the teacher, and explained that I was trying to stop the habit. After that day, daughter never spoke like it again. When I asked teacher what she had done, that I hadn't been able to for months, she said she had told my daughter that if she didn't practice saying words properly, she would find it hard to learn to spell and write properly. That was all it took. 15yo is now so well spoken it is hard to believe she is the product of a Bristolian and an Aussie :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.

I've forgotten my potting news .

    Oh,yes-
did a bit of emergency grocery shopping tonight (superstition prevents me from washing clothes on New Years Day,so I didn't worry that I had run out of washing powder just before the new year. But I thought it was now about time :eek:).Also needed dishwasher tabs, cos there was no way I was going to start handwashing the dishes again !!
As the young lad was handing me change,he apologised for not having any 1p's to give me in the change (think he owed me something like £9.71),but as he handed over £9.70 and I realised it included two £2 coins,I immediately forgave him :rotfl::rotfl:.
    In all,I potted £2 x 2,and 70p tonight.

£4 potted today which would have normally gone into my purse and wasted. Loving the challenge, making me think twice about silly purchases 👍

    Good morning everyone
Not much coinage happening in my world at the moment - not much spending happening either, so only to be expected! But I did pay for something with a £20 note yesterday to get the ball rolling, so that is a £5 note and a couple of coins for my pig.
Take care and have a great next week
