Glad I didn't offend you. Inspired by this thread I have blitzed the bathroom, top to bottom, even washed the bath mat and shower curtain and cleaned up the sitting room window. This was horrifyingly filthy, as I have a large collection of indoor plants on there and the compost and dead leaves were piling up into a lovely mulch  So now the windowsill is cleared, the plants tidied up and I am dazzled by the light coming through the clean window :D

I think I'm going to like it here *sits down and gets comfy*

 I didn't realise we could have such a powerful effect on people, betony! Well done, though. :T

Sometimes it's all too easy and put things off, isn't it? Before you know it, 'stuff' has taken over, be it dirt or just things. Having said that, I have a duster on the cupboard in the lounge, but not dusted yet, and a bowl in the bathroom, waiting for me to fill it with clothes to transfer to the WM. Spose I'd better go and do both. :o

 Welcome betony! I think the messy thread appeals to me because I can socialise with others in the same boat, and I don't feel that I need to post an action plan (though I sometimes do, when I'm motivated) and can celebrate my messyness just as much as any cleaning/tidying triumphs!

Well I'm shattered - off to bed with the lappy in a minute I think. Hope all is well in messyland!

    Thanks Bearcub :]

I had a rubbish afternoon, dizzy spell and headache, not the first time so on Friday I'll make a Doctors appointment. DD is playing up big time at the moment - mega strop and everything that is wrong in her life is my fault lol. She's going to bed very soon whether she likes it or not!! She'll be 12 soon although she's acting like she'll be 2

Sorry to hear you've been feeling off-colour, Helen. Luvverly, a stroppy tweenager - I had one like that, while the older one was very biddable. I was told once that the stroppy one was the 'normal' one, and that I was very lucky that DD1 hadn't been the same. :rotfl: Not sure I felt that way.

    Hello all!

(Hang on while i shove the pile of carp away from the keyboard so i can type properly and with out gaining a twisted wrist or something) That's better! :D

I spotted this thread a few days ago, but i've only just began reading, i only went back about 6 pages though :)

I have to say how darn wonderful this little corner of the forum is! :heartsmil
I am a messy! Through and through! I love FlyLady and all the principals but i have never had a routine, i just pick the bits that work for me, like the do-it-now mindset and not seeing things as a chore. It's helped me improve things but it's not my Holy Grail (I now know there isn't one!)

Emm-in-a-pickle ........ I'm also a 'Ward' worker :) (NA) so i understand where your coming from completely! There have been certain patients that have tested my patience over the last few weeks, but as you say yourself, i can't imagine doing anything else. If no one ever smacked my hand or swore at me for giving them a wash ever again i don't think i'd like the job half as much as i do now :) (and that is 100% sincere)

    Today......
I eventually de-messed the kitchen but it was purely so that i could cook tea. The worst thing is, i have a dishwasher!! It was empty, yet everything had been left on the side from lastnight :o.
That is the full extent of my efforts today. I was in work till 2 though so it wasn't a full day lost!

Looking forward to keeping up with everyones stories. I think your all fab!

Aww, thank you for the warm welcome. I have decided to blitz the whole house - a little bit at a time.

Someone on another thread always reminds us of the story of how she was struggling with an enormous work load. Eventually her boss took her to one side and asked her what the problem was. She told him that however hard she worked, she couldnt get all her work done every day. Then he said to her "could you eat an elephant?" she replied "of course not, it's too big". He responded "What if you cut the elephant into meal-sized chunks and put them in the freezer. You take out a piece every day to eat. Could you eat an elephant now?" She said "Yes, I could do it that way. Though I think I'd get a bit sick of elephant".

Apologies if you know the story, I was paraphrasing. But of you struggle with the enormity of a task, it's less stressful to break it into smaller tasks and do as much as you can comfortably cope with every day. The job will still get done, but without it making you a wreck!

So, if ever I'm struggling to do everything at once, I always remember the elephant!

Sorry for the long post

    Afternoon Messies and welcome natdjay.

Another hospital worker - like teachers, you all deserve medals, only NHS ward workers deserve bigger ones!

You cleared it all up, kitty, don't let it get out of control again. :)

Good story, betony, and worth remembering, in a lot of situations.

Hugs everyone. Helen hope your feeling better.

Well Iv not posted in a while due to being knackerd due to new dog. He is settling and we have had a big break through in his behaviour in the last two days. He is hyper and jumps all over the place but after firm telling off he is now lying down.
    Iv not done much in the hovel due to the above but now need to get some routine going. Im always inspired to start when I see others on here doing housework. Iv got to do the following;

Put a mountain of clothing away,
    do washing,
    tidy our bedroom,
    clean the bird cage,
    change our bedding,
    clean the bathroom,

    Thats enough for now.

    take care everyone.
