Thank you for your reply. Sadly I failed miserably to appeal due to life getting in the way :( now have this court fine so wanted to check my options. Can I appeal on the same basis / form per above or do I need to do anything else? Or is it not worth even fighting? Any advice appreciated!

    What stage is this at?

If it's 'just' debt collectors pretending they can ruin your life, then keep letters but do not reply.

The advice here is to do nothing until and unless a Letter Before Claim is received.

Others may recommend that you send a SAR, that course of action seems to be advised here more & more often .... I don't know but the experienced regulars will.

What on earth does that mean?

    Please explain.

Sorry if I wasn’t clear. I have been sent a claim form from the Coubt Court Business Centre. It did seem like something I couldn’t ignore as there is a court fee and all these other charges (legal fees, 8% cost, etc)

Do you mean you have a claim form from CCBC in Northampton OR you have received a judgment telling you that you have to pay something?

What is the Issue Date on the Claim Form?

Did it come from the County Court Business Centre in Northampton, or from somewhere else?

So yes this is a Claim Form from Northampton CCBC issued in 28th Feb. the amount claimed is £162.90 with a court fee of £25 and legal rep costs of £50. It says I shouldn’t ignore it as judgement may be entered against me.

    Appreciate the help so far

With a Claim Issue Date of 28th February, you have until Tuesday 19th March to do the Acknowledgement of Service, but there is nothing to be gained by delaying it. To do the AoS, follow the guidance offered in a Dropbox link from post #2 of the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread. About ten minutes work - no thinking required.

Having done the AoS, you have until 4pm on Tuesday 2nd April 2019 to file your Defence.

That's over three weeks away. Loads of time to produce a perfect Defence, but don't leave it to the very last minute.

When you are happy with the content, your Defence should be filed via email as suggested here:
      Print your Defence.
    1. Sign it and date it.
    2. Scan the signed document back in and save it as a pdf.
    3. Send that pdf as an email attachment to CCBCAQ@Justice.gov.uk
    4. Just put the claim number and the word Defence in the email title, and in the body of the email something like 'Please find my Defence attached'.
    5. Log into MCOL after a few days to see if the Claim is marked "defended". If not chase the CCBC until it is.
    6. Do not be surprised to receive a copy of the Claimant's Directions Questionnaire, they are just trying to put you under pressure.
    7. Wait for your DQ from the CCBC, or download one from the internet, and then re-read post #2 of the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread to find out exactly what to do with it.

Thanks Keith. To prepare a good defence how long would you estimate it takes? And per what I have read there is a good chance of winning?
