Mobile phone contract question

Hello!
Im doing this on behalf of my friend who got a mobile contract over the phone when his old contract ended, He spoke to a gentleman on the phone who he thought was giving him a good deal, samsung a10 phone for £30 a month for 3 years : /
He got the phone, opened it and quickly found out it didnt work with his fitbit so he sent it back within the 14 day cooling period.
the company are now saying he signed something to say the 14 day cooling period isnt valid.
He got the phone through o2
Any help would be great

It was almost certainly a business contract; no cooling off period. The other possibility is if it was one of the new-style contracts where the phone is separate to the airtime (in which case it would be a consumer contract and when agreed remotely the 14 days from receipt for cooling off is enforceable. No traditional consumer contracts nowadays are longer than 24 months.0

That phone can be purchased outright, unlocked for arounf £130.

Are you sure? Outfits called Prestige and Aerial are connected to o2 but sell you a business contract. No cooling off period as they are business suppliers.

Its looking like its a business contract as hes self employed, he told me they said he could claim money back for having the phone. Hes not tech savvy at all, he felt like he was getting offered a good deal but didnt in the end0 -

He said to me o2 originally but it appears he got it through some company on behalf of o2, Hes asleep so ill have to grab the name later0 -

There is no such thing as an upgrade......its a new contract and probably not a good one?
