Coventry Building Society participates in CASS, so the headline could read "Unique opportunity for CBS debit card holders to make £175".

Switch if you can, folks, switch!

Coventry first is my main current account for the last 15 years, been happy with it. Also have savings with them, very disappointed in this news. They should notify account holders before the press too.

According to the existing threads on this (MSE always post their news late, and never, ever, link to the existing thread!!!) they announced this in letters to account holders a week or so ago:

  • This will be a big inconvenience for the people who use these debit cards, which is bad news. But if it is a sign that a major building society intends to move away from providing banking services and return to basic building society services and values, then - as a long standing member of the Coventry - I would be encouraged.

Yorkshire Building Society did the same thing two years ago when they closed all the Norwich and Peterborough current accounts after taking over the N&P.

On learning of this change I messaged The Coventry and received a phone call later saying that they were still in the process of notifying customers and I should receive something in the post in due course.

Had my account with them for over 10 years, with a debit card that I use, but still not had a letter, email or secure message from them informing me of these changes.
