While more fibre helps speed the highest packages themselves are also faster on average. VM have launched higher speeds, BT have been offering free uplifts on their 40/10 or 55/10 to 80/20 all push the averages up.0 -

True, and Sky dropped their 38Mbps and pushed everyone on to the higher speed (where available).0 -

You would really resent paying the same for 2Mb then ! OFCOM crow on about how they have given those that already have a good speed even more whilst failing to ensure many can get get even a basic service.
I used to get just over 2Mb with ADSL so 12Mb with Fibre was a big improvement but I had to pay for it.0
