From reading the OPs posts, they don't claim DLA and put in an application for PIP. They've been denied PIP.

Sorry got it mixed up, meant the other way around. Need to read better.

Don't worry about the ESA and appeal the PIP. Same advice just swap the two around.

Cross post. DWP shouldn't stop your payments without telling, however it does occasionally happen.

Wait to see if payment goes in and if it doesn't then contact them.

    Indie Kid is correct.
I claim ESA conts and have been placed in the Support Group however from memory there were several questions asked in the ESA form that were not asked in the PIP. One of which I don't wish to go into but I suspect was something to do with why I got placed in Support Group. My ESA was awarded without a medical. I have never claimed DLA but am going to appeal my PIP decision.
My next payment of ESA is on Thursday. I currently have about £5 to my name and if it doesn't go in I'm in real trouble. I have to ring DWP tomorrow anyway to tell them I intend to appeal my PIP decision so I might ask them then- I don't just want a shock on Thursday morning if I find an empty bank account!

I really wouldn't ask DWP about this. This may make them a tad suspicious.

On what grounds (if you don't mind my asking) were you awarded ESA support group without a medical.

The reason I am asking is because the descriptors for the mobility part of PIP are quite different to the support group descriptors.

Presumably you had evidence that supported the descriptors for getting into the support group. Did you send this evidence for the PIP?

I will post the descriptors for each and then you can see if there are any discrepancies in any of the parts.

Whilst PIP and ESA are quite separate benefits there might just be a cause for DWP to query things if there was a huge
    discrepancy.

Is suspect that this is just a case of evidence not being taken into account properly.

Just go ahead and appeal your PIP. Get some help if you can (CAB can be good if you use a large one with a benefits specialist in house.)

It wasn't mobility. It was down to my mental health condition (or rather one of them I should say) I've identified what it is but it's too distressing for me to talk about publicly- sorry. :( what I will say is that they said I had no trouble engaging with the assessor. (I did but that's another story) however this was because she was of the same gender. If she had been male I would have flat out refused to even enter the assessment room.

    No problem.

Just go ahead and appeal your PIP :)

I agree with others who have said do not alert DWP, all it takes is a customer service adviser to misinterpret your question and say that you are querying your own entitlement to ESA and that will open a can of worms.

Ring and challenge your PIP, they have not concluded that nothing is wrong with you, just that you do not satisfy the PIP test and they are often wrong about this. Continue with your PIP claim and treat them separately.

Many people do satisfy the test for either ESA or PIP but not always both of them, they are paid independently of each other.

Also if you think that Capita didn't follow the correct procedure then I'd be tempted to make a complaint to Capita as well as of course appealing.

Yes I'm going to be complaining to Capita definitely. That's second on the list for tomorrow after phoning the DWP to tell them I will be appealing. By the look of things there was a lot of stuff she missed out- like it said I was calm and composed and showed no signs of distress- she ignored the fact I broke down in tears at one point and told her I found it hard to cope with daily life, she also failed to mention the clear fact I mentioned to her about my self harm and suicide attempts and she said that I only had one bad day a week which I didn't say at all and said at my worst I never moved from the sofa for five days. She acknowledged herself that I found it hard to articulate the sort of answers that were needed and I needed prompting to give more than one or two word answers. Looking at it now there are more holes in it than a string vest  I will be putting in complaints to both Capita and DWP about their handling of this

It might be worth going through the relevant parts of This to see that Capita followed the rules!
