Can any1 help please? I took out a tenancy on a property on 25/07/08 and have been living with my partner & our extended family of 3 kids & 2 dogs quite happily since, the rent is all up to date and so are the household bills. I popped home from work at dinner time today and found 3 letters, 1 for my landlord, 1 for his partner & 1 addressed to 'the occupier' of which i opened. inside was a letter from a legal company which read "dear sirs, please note that the mortgagee of the above property is currently enforcing their order for possession. The county court baliff has the power to evict any person occupying the property regardless of them being named on the possession order. It is imperative that you obtain alternative accommodation immediately. Advice may be obtained from your local housing authority."
Of course i am devistated by this letter as i had no idea it was coming. I cant contact my landlord and when i contacted the company who sent the letter they wouldn't give me any imformation as they were unaware the property had been let! What do i do now? this house took months to find as i have children and 2 much loved dogs that i couldn't bear to lose so hence finding a landlord willing to take both in a suitable sized home is near impossible!
Can anybody give me an idea of how long this process will take as its coming up to xmas and cant even imagine being homeless or in tempory accomidation at such a time! any help would be very much appreciated
sorry about the length of my message but i thought i'd give you as much imformation as possible. Mark

I'm sure there will be a long answer to your post.
This is the short version,
Pay no rent whatsoever.
Contact shelter and the council for advice.0 -
Start looking for a home with some urgency.
Try to find a temporary home(s) for your dogs.
And, as eco-friendly said, stop paying rent (save it for your next home), at least until you have more information from your LL or his lender but be prepared to pay for any rent due if a Court was to make such an order.
This is an area where the law needs to step in to protect tenants IMHO.

GG
Unfortunately no law could exist to protect this poor guy from some greedy over-leveraged !!!!!!.
The law should be that you have to jump through a million hoops to become a BTL'r to reduce the BTL market to the minimum and take it out of the 'lets try and make a fast buck brigade', utter scum.0 -

A simple law to give tenants protection over the remaining period of an AST up to 6 months would provide very good protection. It would also put the banks on the back foot when doing a repo over a tenant. And it might suit your agenda, because if that started to happen, perhaps the banks would look twice at who they are lending too.Unfortunately no law could exist to protect this poor guy from some greedy over-leveraged !!!!!!.

Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
To dissolve the people
And elect another?0 -

Added to my ignore list.

If the changed the law so repossessed had to be given the same notice as if their tenancy was still valid, then that'd solve some of the immediate scariness.
It'd make the houses harder to resell - would you buy with a tenant in if you wanted to live there?0 -
I know what you mean but it just seems so unfair that i am being evicted for no reason, i've paid my rent, council tax and bills but am treated like i'm some sort of scum bag not paying his way in life! :mad:0

the real problem is i'm not homeless and can afford to pay for a new home to rent (but unfortunately not buy) but as i live and work in a small villiage where property is in short supply where the children also go to school, i cant really move out of the area. the real problem i think i've got is time! i'm sure given time i could find somewhere else suitable to live!SouthCoast wrote: »Contact Shelter and CAB.0 -
