Well I've just been and bought one from Irlam in Manchester, SA said they had originally had 21 with only 6 left (had to ask for one).. so I'm delighted that I have one!! I've wanted a Sat Nav for ages. I'm just about to go try installing it.

I've just been out trying my new toy!:T

My other half has a Tom Tom so I was interested to see how this compares.
I found it fine to use - obviously you have to get used to its own particular way of programing and the way that the directions are given to you, but all in all I was very happy with it.

It does just what I need it to and no more - i.e. tells me where to go in UK. It can also tell you when speed cameras are coming up through a beeping noise. You can chosse your preferred method of display - I used a 2D map and what I liked was that before a direction change came up, a small icon with the info would appear at the top of the screen then the display would change to just a larger version of the icon showing the junction or roundabout. What I do like is that (unlike Tom Tom) it shows the other exits off the roundabout in a lighter colour, rather than just the one you have to take - I found that helped me.

The voice is quite stern! No messing with Ms Whiplash! She does tell you useful things like 'Continue along this road for 5km', so that you know what is coming up.

I looked at the 210 on the PC World website and the only difference (that I can see and no doubt someone will correct me if I am wrong) is the display, where the icons are shown at the bottom of the screen rather than the top.

  • Also available from Tesco Extra @ Burseldon (Southampton).

They are not displayed alongside the usual Sat Navs - you have to go to the electrical desk (on the 1st floor) where it is on display behind the counter - it is the GoPal 205 model for £59.xx. Hope this helps someone.
