Just bought one of these today and not sure exactly what to do to set it up.

I have read the instructions and am still confused. Do I need to connect to the computer and load the discs that came with it!

Is there anywhere I can get dummy instructions?

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks

Just put the batteries in it and take it outside to pick up a satellite signal...then you will be able to see what it does. Mapping is already loaded.

There is a car charger* that you plug into the cigarette lighter and a mount that sticks on the windscreen - fit both of those and enter a destination into your new toy - then off you go on your journey of discovery!

*Apologies if I was misleading about the car charger - I meant that it powers the gadget while you are driving, not that it actually recharges the batteries. I should probably have used the term: 'Car Adaptor' rather than 'car charger'.

Thanks OP. Rang York , Clifton Moor, was told none in stock, so tried the Askam Bryan store they said had about 10 left but they were going fast. Asked if they could save me one as 20 mile trip and lovely lady said she could as long as we could pick it up tonight.

OH went to pick it up and must have been impressed as also bought me 2 boxes of cream eggs as a little treat!!

Good timing as we are going to Chester zoo/Cheshire Oaks, with £15 a night Travelodge deal for the bank holiday weekend tomorrow!

It does do full postcodes but it also narrows down the list of postcodes as you type to enable you select from postcodes it matches to. It does the same for town names too (e.g. I typed LEI and was able to select LEICESTER rather than typing the whole city name). :T

I checked mine and it seems to have all the data from the discs preloaded and worked straight from the box. I have not had any speed camera warning yet but so far there have not been any on my routes (must be a rare situation :rotfl: ) but I will drive by one today and report back accordingly.

well done to all have managed to get one of these..

I was assurred yesterday morning at 6.45 by electrical department mananger that these would not be on sale until 7 oclock this morning in my local extra and that I would get a phone call if there were ANY changes to that.. I got my 4 little children up at 6 oclock and we went down only to discover that they were putoutfor sale last night around 8 pm. So none left.

I am so disappointed at the genuine lack of customer service..

P.S Head office in Dundee also confirmed no sales until today too..:wall:

Here's my little joke for the day- When you got LEI, you should have selected Leigh, lancashire. Its a lovely little town with a cracking rugby team-and we have speed cameras to test if it bleeps or not.LOL.
When there's a knock at the door, why do dogs always think its for them?
