Hi all,
I haven't seen anything about Opera on this site - and the new version has just come out.
I have to say that it seems very fast - the download is a free version which includes a very narrow strip with ads at the top bu you can easily ignore it.
I have been using Firefox until now which I thought was a vast improvement on IE especially as I'm on a dial up connection.
Now I think Opera may be a further improvement as far as speed is concerned.
Get it from here and let me know what you think of Opera:
https://www.opera.com
Does anyone know anything more about Opera when compared with Firefox??
How is it in terms of security and stability??
Thanks
L

I got it a couple of days ago, I have installed it but haven't given it much of a try TBH.

Seems to be faster than 7, and I like interface modifications.0

Do you install over the top? I seem to have Opera and Opera 7 folders
bookmarks don't matter; I might go from scratch0 -
I did install on top of 7.0

I'm not sure im afraid - never had Opera before so mine was a clean install from scratch.
Doing it from scratch should work fine no?"To be ignorant of one's ignorance is the malady of the ignorant." Amos Bronson Alcott0 -

ive installed mine without deleting the previous version. It seems fine. You can always import the old book marks. Most browsers seem to have an export to html setting for bookmarks which you can just open as a page in your new browser if it hasnt got an import setting for that particular browser.0

I've used Opera since way back and it really is awesome software. I flirted with Firefox for a few weeks but just not as usable all around for me. The new version seems just as stable as previous and the menu changes have simplified things even more. I use the Minimalist Native appearance and works really well: very modern and functional.0
