For those that have been to Vegas early April, (like the 1st week...)
whats temp like ?? (if someone asks me whats temp like towards end of May, I say average 40degrees)....

Hoping its 30 ish in April ??
Looking at a plan of: Flying direct with Norweigan Air to LA (under £500), then drive to Vegas.... Love driving, so not an issue :)

We flew to LA a couple of years ago. We had a 15 night trip (I think) and included 2 nights in LA on the way over, then one night at Long Beach on the way back. We really liked Long Beach, would love to go back there.

Be aware that the busiest times to drive to Vegas is Friday, and to drive back to LA Sundays will be very busy (due to the weekend visitors to Vegas from LA).

If you check the trip report list on the front page, I've put dates with most of them, so you could check out those for weather mentions?

We went mid/late April this year... There were a couple of windy slightly cloudy days, probably mid/high 20s, rest of the time it was sunny, probably around 30-35C

Tickets came today!!!!!!!!! :D:D My boyfriend still has no idea where we're going. I've kept it a secret since June 2013 and it's killing me!

Does anyone have any comments, good or bad, on the Monte Carlo buffet? I have a 4th My Vegas reward still to get, and I think I'll have about 60,000 - 70,000 LPs by the time I need to redeem it. Thinking about 2 dinner buffet passes at MC, or maybe the $50 dining credit.

I need Monte Carlo to offer me a weeks comp! grrrrrrrrrrrrr !
amount of $$$ we spent there, would hope I can blag something! (ok, they did give us that spa suite for free when we stayed 5 nights over the wkend :D )
If I could find a in-direct flight for like £550 ish and 1 week comp'd room, I could be booking my vegas trip already ! :D (thinking April 4th week, should be pushing around 30degrees heat around then ?)

First week in April this year was around 22-24 which felt warmer out of the winds, which were high for a few days. Also couple days of rain. The following week was up around 30.

I think those first few weeks in April are really unpredictable. Last year the end of march (23rd onwards - see trip report linked in first page) was really hot, the year before mid April was considerably cooler.

Hi Misty, congrats on keeping your secret for so long. Hope it all works out for you.

Regarding the Monte Carlo buffet we had the displeasure last year also via myVegas. Truly thought it was woeful in comparison to Aria/Bellagio/Mirage/PH/MGM and even Harrahs which we have experienced in visits gone by. You even serve your own drinks whilst the staff stood around chatting for the most part.

Our first Vegas buffet in 2007 was Imperial Palace to which we have never returned even with 2-4-1 vouchers - Monte Carlo sits in the same category.

Have a great time and I hope my opinion/experience is helpful.

I have not tried the MC buffet but would go for the $50 dining credit - especially if you already have some buffets via MyVegas (some have reported about the buffet overload that can occur with MyVegas). It is hard to get but as it's flexible you can choose what you fancy in terms of what you use it for. We have used it for the brew pub and for Double Barrel Roadhouse but there are several other options to choose from.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

The link to the 'Advantage Player's website' on the first page leads to a dead website. It's in the Player's Clubs bit.
is this any use? they update it weekly...

Thanks, Ferf and CareFreeGuy. :) Much appreciated.

Maybe I'll give the dining credit a whirl and try one of the restaurants.

    hi
as you can tell this is my first post on mse so be gentle with me, I was gonna look to do a review about my vegas trip(6/7/14 to13/7/14)

I noticed that you were asking about the Monte carlo buffet. My brother and i ttried 3 different hotel buffets(the mgm grand we tried this 3 times since we were staying there) we found this one good . we also tried the one at wynn(also good but was ages to get to,)
the monte carlo buffet we both enjoyed.Out of the 3 hotel buffets we tried the Monte carlo was the ONLY(only 1 of the 3) that had chips(ok fries:D)
it had a good selection of food, pretty much in and around the same selection amount of food selection in regards comparing it mgm and the wynn buffet though the mgm and wynn buffet *felt bigger*

as for qulity of food i again (imo) i think they were pretty much in and around equal, though i did like the chips(ok fries) which would sway me to say i enjoyed the monte carlo better than the other 2 buffets i tried

(please remove if in wrong bit of forum.I tried to copy this into the memebers trip report, so feel free to merge there thank you in advance )

My brother and I trveled from glasgow to las vegas(from 6th to the 13th july 14 landed on monday the 14th on the return flight) and were dead excited. We traveleld with tomas cook.
First of as the forum has said remeber to get your esta .
As for travel money we sorta checked alot of sites online and in our local shopping centre(we finally went for the money shop we got $1.6825 per £1 whitch has a buy back gaureentee for £3)

First thing i would say is if you are going direct(and i guess this is included if you are stopping over ) is it is a very very long flight! it took us 9 and a half(maybe 45mins) each way and after the first 5 or so hours we got crabby!

Luckily for us when we got to vegas on the 6th we had beaten ba and virgin to vegas so getting our bags and going through customs/immagration/sercurity points took us 15-20mins in total.
Getitng a cab from the airport to our hotel, the mgm took us 10 or so mins.
The mgm grand was huge! i assume most of the other hotels would be like this so if possiable get a little fllor map(we got ours 2 days in which was a help.)
I would surggest to people reading the thread to beware of resort fees, *ask your travel agent if it is included in your price*
Also we were asked to put down a $200 deposit on our room incase of things, if we wanted to buy things in our room or what not(*have money in your credit/debit card* I assume other hotels do this too)
Vegas is an experince in itself.Use loads of suncream,
    Things of intrest and free

    the las vegas sign
the fountains at the bellingo(8pm and 45mins after) amazing *must see*

    costs
the tower at the stratisphere(was $20 per person) but get great views and pics
The helicopter over vegas at night
we did this and bookedit vis thomas cook(was £75 each with limo trnasfers there and back)
As i have said above we tries 3 different buffets(the one at the mgm grand, the monte carlo and the wynn) all 3 were great value and you get unlimited free top up /drinks(we were drinking pepsi at the 3 so unsure about beers/shots)

The pools at the mgm were great and you got free towels for the sun loungers. The drinks at the pool bar were a tad exspensive though.
For some reason and it could just be me but i found the bottled water much different from the water here in the uk,
I hope my short version of my expericne will help other people.I had a check before i went and thought i d share my experince with people whom may be going. If anyone has any questions about going or staying at the mgm grand i d be more than happy to help as best i can.
