    Its usually toughened - the video above shows a full size patio door, but smaller panels will be harder to break. If you're concerned, insist on laminated.

    The patio doors in our new build have laminated glass for one pane and toughened glass for the the other pane in each double glazing unit.

    To the OP, I would have a shop around more local companies. We replaced a hardwood door in our last house with a new composite door and paid £800 for the door and fan light above.

    Yes that included installation as well.

    It was a company in Sheffield.

    Thanks, will have a shop around. If I could get a composite door installed for around a grand I'd be more than happy

    My new composite door swells in the heat. Makes terrible cracking noises when it has the full sun on it and then when it's cooling down!
