This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning all,

Looks like a bright day here but cold again, off to work for me but at least its Friday :T

Dinner tonight will be hot dogs in a bun with wedges and sweetcorn, we will save our takeaway for tomorrow night as we have family coming round to eat with us.

Evie had a better night last night she slept on dd's bed and dd sleeps like a log nothing would wake her, If Evie did bark at anything dd would not have heard :rotfl:

Will do a wash tonight ready to hang out tomorrow but that will be it for this evening.

Need to nip to the shop tomorrow and buy a couple of soft squeaky toys for Evie she has a rubber one but her mouth is too tiny to get round it properly and she is starting / trying to play now :j

Right better get on have good days all xx

    Morning all.

Awake bright and early this morning as I had another nightmare that bought me out in a cold sweat. I haven't had one for a few days and hoped they were a thing of the past....obviously not.

Off to Mom's this morning. I haven't been for a week. I needed the break.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

    Morning everyone.

I'm up, showere, dressed and ready for breakfast. Got to be out by 9.00am for some walk training. Even did my packed lunch yesterday.

My day was fine yesterday, a little outing for fresh milk and then a neighbour and I had a good long chat, hadn't seen her this year so it was good to catch up. I felt very energised too and hope it continues today.

I've got egg mayo for breakfast and some stir fried harrissa chicken with salady stuff for lunch. Evening meal...no idea yet.

Judi - oh no! Sorry to hear about your nightmare, hope you get done rest to night.

Right, off I jolly well go.

    Happy Friday everyone b

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them x

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now using up some leave, so he’s having a lie-in. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly so he can get ready for school.

Now light, wet underfoot, rained very heavily and steadily for ages last night, but is bright and reasonably clear sky this morning, also looks a bit blustery too, hopefully will dry everywhere up a bit, air feels cold though.

Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, ice cream for dessert. It’s what I had planned for Tuesday night but swapped around due to DS2’s college interview being at an awkward time. I need to think of something for tonight’s dinner as the menfolk had chips last night so won’t do them again tonight. I’ll be going to the SM shortly to do the food shop, need a flash of inspiration.

I wasn’t particularly productive yesterday, I did get most of the washing, and drying done, although I think the dirty wash basket has more in it this morning, I’ll get that in the WM shortly. I did clean the bathrooms, and shove the hoover round. I just couldn’t get motivated, my mood just dipped and for a while I just really struggled, I have a few things floating round in my head at the mo. I spent far too long on the internet. So today I will be going food shopping shortly, then once I’m home and have unpacked, I then need to go to local town as have a nail appointment, once that’s done then I will come home and I’d like to do some cooking/baking – I also need to do the ironing, so I have a bigger “to do” list than normal due to my lack of motivation yesterday. It’s silly really because I know if I keep busy and just steadily pottering about doing jobs I get everything done I want and the motivation is much less of an issue, and of course my mood doesn’t dip low leaving me feeling c**p. So I have a busy day planned, I will just keep pottering along until I’ve got everything done.

    Have good Fridays’ everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

  • Morning all and thanks RR for starting us off. We are well and truly in Winter Wonderland this morning. Woke up to the promised snow and we have a pretty deep covering. It looks so pretty looking out, especially the trees covered in snow, but glad I don't have to go out in it!! It's still falling now but not heavily thank goodness, as we have more than enough already!! DD just texted to say both schools are shut, which is just as well as she couldn't have got there! She's not working today either which is fortunate.

Well once again it's Friday and the pre weekend clean round to do this morning. As usual it will be a half hearted one! A mountain of washing has accumulated too so will get the wm on shortly. I don't think it will be going out on the line in this stuff!!

I got a huge pack of cooking bacon yesterday for £1 so I intend to use most of it to stock us back up with soups later. Then my favourite lentil & bacon will be left overnight in the sc. I love that soup with a big crusty roll, just the job for this weather!

Have a good day all (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed and take care. Especially if you have lots of white stuff as well xx

    Morning everyone,

Cold, windy and bright here and Friday so no work :j

Have some M@S vouchers so will pop in there to get some nice bits for the weekend. We have Mum staying over on Saturday night again and then my DB, SIL and niece & nephew said they will pop over on Sunday afternoon so they can see her too. This means that I have seen all my family in a week, which doesn't happen often, my youngest brother and I have drifted apart in the last few years.
This afternoon will take Bill out for a nice long walk to stretch his legs out, didn't get over to see him yesterday so look forward to that. Also want to pop into the local pet store for bird seed as its much better quality than the garden centre so lasts much longer.

Have a good day all and take care if you have the snow xx

    Morning :hello:

The crocheting didn't go well so I unravelled it in a huff, lol. I planned to have another go when mr tru went out last night, but we had a power cut at 6pm so I put it all away. Power came back on an hour later, I couldn't be bothered to get it all back out again so I just flopped in front of the telly :D

I'll go for a walk, grab a quick cuppa when I get back then I need to pop into town. I hate shopping so I'll whizz around, hopefully I'll be back before noon. I have M&S vouchers too, I'll buy a few pairs of leggings, and maybe a shirt - if I can find one I like. I can never quite find what I'm looking for. I haven't thought past the shopping trip so have no idea what I'm doing later :D

Morning all, it is beautifully bright and clear here, last night's rain has dried up and I have one lot of washing on the line and another in the machine. I had thought that I had reached the bottom of the washing basket but no, my DS brought me his washing, I did think this was too good to be true.

I am going out to lunch today, so probably won't get through too much in the house and I do need to do a little work too, if not, someone else will miss a deadline .

Hester, thank you for your sleeping pattern comment yesterday, I am sometimes similar but difficult to manage that when at work, still onwards and upwards.

How nice to think that Eve is learning how to play, she sounds such a sweet little thing.

I am using up my annual leave now, well mostly, I do have a few things to do but not at the office, I should perhaps have done some paperwork yesterday but knitted a teddy bear instead, how's that for a professional attitude!
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

It looks as if we're snowed in today. I've been checking the local Facebook page and just about every road out of town is blocked due to snow or there has been an accident. All the buses are cancelled and most schools shut. DH has the day off as we were planning to visit MIL but has phoned her to say we can't make it.

We have plenty of food and milk so will do some housework and then spend the rest of the day knitting.
  • Morning ((((((((((hugs))))))))))if you need one.

Breakfast in bed this morning, first time this week, feeling quite tired. Had a busy week.

Cancelled the quilting workshop, 4 people do not make it viable. I have decided I am not arranging anything else for them. At the end of this year I am going to convert the group into a stitch and !!!!! group. No more teaching, they should know enough by then to be able to carry on.

It's a sunny morning, when I get up I need to push the dyson round the sitting room and have a go at the kitchen, the floor is filthy.

Usual fish tonight, will do it with mash, peas and parsley sauce for a change.

    Morning all,

Lovely and sunny here today, the sky is blue and pretty clear. It has really put me in the mood to potter round the garden, I'm dying to get out there and start my veggie growing. Fingers crossed it stays over the weekend :j

Will pop to Morrisons after work as it's closer than Aldi, just need a few bits: milk, carrots, spinch, apple juice. We are on a tight budget this month and will be eating out of stock.
Not much to be getting on with housework wise, could do with changing the bedsheets but will check weather forecast, would be so lush to have them dry on the line tomorrow!
Gonna be something quick for tea as DD has karate, thinking fish fingers and chips with broccoli.

Right I must get on, have lots to do at work today.
    Have good days everyone!xx
