Buyers going on holiday

The buyers probably booked the holiday long before they offered on your house. They only offered in March - a lot of people have their main summer holiday booked before that.
I suspect they said May to get in before their holiday, then the EA said that was too soon so they'd talk dates later on. Did the buyers ever actually agree to June?
Why don't you exchange ASAP with a long date for completion? We exchanged on 23rd December with completion for 13th Feb on our last move. Much longer than normal, but everyone was ready to exchange and wanted the certainty that the moves would go through, but various people in the chain couldn't do certain dates for moving, so 13th Feb was the first we all agreed on. But as soon as you've exchanged contracts you can relax because the date is set and no-one will pull out (or at least it's exceptionally unlikely).
Suggest exchange now/ASAP with completion in early July?
Final thing - you said it's chain free. Are you buying the property you're moving to or renting it? If renting, you could move as soon as you've exchanged contracts and just leave your house empty until completion. It would mean paying both mortgage and rent for a few weeks but would get your son moved quicker. But only do this after exchange of contracts, as before that your buyers could pull out.0 -
I'm with pinkteapot on this; push them for an EARLY exchange date with a later completion date. That will demonstrate whether or not they are committed to the house purchase0

I'm stuck in limbo at the moment as the "Move Manager" has gone on holidays and left us with the original EA who isn;t much help. Can't get hold of him and won't return emails.
My biggest issue is that I think it's an absolute cheek that they have said they won't move in June unless we give them all of our white goods. They had their eye on our fridge when they viewed the house and asked then if we would consider leaving it but now to give ultimatums is just beyond me!0 -
It sounds incredibly stressful and it sounds like you have done everything you can. It's now a bank holiday weekend and nothing is going to happen during these days so I'd take a break and spend it with your family and try not to think of house sales or estate agents. Enjoy the bank holiday (and the sunshine if we get any).
It is of course incredibly stressful right now but at some point (hopefully soon) you will be in your new home and able to look back on this period and hopefully it won't then matter as you will be in.
