I don't think they booked their holiday to spite You Op.

We ended up going on holiday and actually exchanged while touring Pompeii

I think the biggest alarm bell for you is that they say they might not have enough money..

I have made myself so ill with stress over this move and they seem so chilled about it all..... Arghhhhh
This is where you are going wrong, and they are right!

Property deals are always slower, & more uncertain than anyone either wants or expects.

They are frustrating, morestressfull than marriage, and nearly as stresfull as divorce.

The way to cope, is to..... chill and take a holiday! Leave the solicitors to get on with it - stay in touch by email in case a decision needs making, but otherwise..... eat, sleep, sight-see and sunbathe.

I don't think the buyers are stalling. They wanted May - not suitable for seller. Seller wants June - not suitable for buyer.

    As for money, based on
they need more savings and it may help if we gave them all of our white goods.
I tend to read that as wanting to build up a bigger buffer to cover initial bills in new house such as having to buy white goods etc

They probably see the OP as stalling as they were the first to reject a move date. As said the sellers then thought no hurry so we'll have a holiday. As for the savings/ white goods - 'You are mucking us about, have a taste of your own treatment'

No... I have NEVER rejected a move date. I could have moved in May. It was the solicitors that were saying it wasn't possible to move that quick. It was our Estate Agent that told them that it was unreasonable to move in May... I'd be much happier if I'd have already moved to be honest.....

Umm, why did you let your agent say something on your behalf that was so utterly and absolutely against what you wanted?

Think you missed that bit, the EA just passed the news on to the buyer . .

No, I didn't miss it - I assumed it meant the buyer's solicitors, since usually the vendor's solicitors do their bit quickly and relatively early in the process. The buyer's solicitors are the ones who take the time, through waiting for searches etc.

If the OP's solicitors were saying that May wasn't achievable, then the buyer's solicitors would have a hell of a job to be ready for even early June.

So buyers put their offer in to Estate Agent and suggested they would like a May move.... EA stated that the normal process was 8 - 12 weeks so said that we would agree a mutual moving date once things get underway.

When was the offer accepted, and did any other delays (mortgage, survey) take place?
