    Hi there

Many have been caught out in this situation, but do not give up quite yet, because there are other avenues to take, however, I thought Welcome were protected by GISC in that year before the FSA taken over in Jan 2005, give the FOS a ring to ask them first here:
http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/contact/index.html Let them know the month as well.

If your unable to go this direction, the FOS are willing to take a look at these complaints through their insurers/underwriters instead, these would have been covered and details of the insurer should be in your policy details.

Give the FOS a ring first and please let us know so we can take it from there.;) Good luck

  • Hi, called the FOS and they said they can have a look and that they will be sending a form out for me to fill in. Now do i need to collect any information with regards to the loans?

One thing that may work in my favour is that my account manageraid that most loans before the FSA came in would of been dodgy and that the branch manager said to me that when the loan gets to the last £200 he will clear it as paid as a goodwill gesture to not stop me putting a complain in but going on about it. Now i had a call last week by Welcome saying that as it was down to £170 they would clear that amount and mark it as settled which they have done.

When i took out the first loan in 03 i was in a very bad place and down the line i started to miss payments so they called me in and re wrote it and thus put more PPi on it and then did the same again Nov 2004 so a loan for £1000 turned into nearly £3000 which i am glad is not a worry anymore.

What is the best way to deal with the FOS when explaining why i feel the loan was of no use to me.

    Hi there

Send what you have to support your case, enclose "copies" within the complaint form, remember to take a note of the ref number they give you as well.

There are parts on the form where you can have your say, if you want you can continue to write on separate paper - remember as well to write the reference.

    Good luck with this.;)

    Hi again nsabournemouth,
I think if I were welcome financial I would be saying that, I've let you off the final £170 (because you might want a couple of grand off me instead, so I'll make it look as if I'm doing you a favour!!)

I'd still try and claim against them as you have nothing really to lose, but may have plenty to gain!

Good luck, and as soon as I hear anything about my claim for 1999 then I'll let you know.

    regards chopper
