Decisions, decisions

I am sure others must be in a similar prediciment so what do you do?

We have a holiday booked for next January which leaves from Gatwick ... we therefore have to get an interconnecting flight. This is no problem on the way out (we will go over the day before hand) however on the way back we have limited choices.

Because we are relying on a charter flight to get us to and from our ultimate destination we will only be advised of the actual flight times that we will return to Gatwick about 2 weeks before hand and by then we will probably not be able to get a deal on the connecting flight back home.

There are only 2 return flights (one at 09:10 and one at 16:35). We believe that the charter flight will get us back into Gatwick in the early hours (about 06:30) so do we book the 09:10 or the 16:35. If we book the 09:10 then we run the risk of missing it but if we book the 16:35 then we have to spend all day at Gatwick (something I hate doing when coming back from holiday).

I am thinking of writing £50 off and booking both flights back home .. what would everybody else do?

Is it £50 each, making the write off £100?

tbh its not a situation I have come across as I live in Engerland, but I think I would be prepared to book both flights now and hope you get the 1st! If you do leave booking them it will cost that amount of money anyhoo!

A day in Gatwick can be fun, the Sky shop is ok as is a nice meal in the non smoking corner of Yates' pub! You'll love it!

Book the flights, put DW in 1st, you get a cheaper (in the hold ticket) and be done!

  • I would be tempted to book the later one - it seems like booking the earlier one is just asking for you to get back to Gatwick at 9.15!

As for booking both - it would depend on how much you were wasting. Personally, I would find that hard to do - spending £50 is more acceptable than blowing £50. Is there a lounge or something at Gatwick you could spend some of that £50 on and have a bit of a rest? If there is a laundrette there, you could do all your washing so you don't have that to do when you get home.

Where are you going in January?

I would book the earlier one. DH would nag me to death though if the plane was held up. :D You know * I knew we should have booked the later one* type of talk. Rah Rah Rah. :p Men.

    Itll be belfast.

We only had about 3 hours from our flight landing, to getting on the boat, and that included getting across nyc and getting through US customs.

We still went for it though cos we're dead hard :) or dead stupid ;)

dont be such a wuss and get the early one booked :)

    where you going?

It would make more sense to spend the £50 on a room for the night and get the early flight the next day.

Are there not several companies that do reasonable priced flights throughout the day from Gatwick to NI?
