Does anyone have a cleaner or domestic help?

  • Thanks for all the advice. We had our first cleaning experiance yesterday. I decided on two hours a week at £11 an hour from a private company. They sent two cleaners who worked in different rooms for an hour. The are going ti do a thorough clean of each room to start with wich meant that the bathroom and our bedroom got a goot clean this week and they hoovered through and swept the kitchen floor. They did a good job. There were places that were missed ie a surface not cleaned in the bathroom, a corner of mildew missed as the shower curtain was covering it but the bathroom was bad I am not surprised. It took me 5 mins to wipe the odd bits over. The bedroom looked great though I forgot to as her to change the bed. The pulled all the furniture out and hoovered behind everything. I am looking forward to them coming next week now for a clean kitchen and living room. I hope it continues to go so well.

I have a cleaner from an agency called Homeclean, not sure if they do Kent but I'm in London, it's £7 per hour and if my regular can't come then they send a replacement.

There's another one called MollyMaids which might do your area.. I'm not 100% sure of their rates tho.

Good luck, they are really a godsend at times :)

  • I really need to get a cleaner. I feel guilty for needing one because I am not physically disabled. My problems stem from mental illness and I have major problems motivating myself and also get very tired. The problem is that the flat is very very untidy and I'd be ashamed to let anyone in to see it.
  • I'm glad it is working out for you purplegirl. They sound very professional and good value for money.

Hey don't be ashamed, I worked with my OH for a week before the cleaners started to tidy as much as possible. This way they can clean properly and the rooms now look great. Our bathroom was awful and I would have been ashamed to let a guest in there but the cleaners are there to clean, they didn't mind at all.
