Tradetime, for me its been frustrating because i've been saving for moving out during the 'good times' (3years) and get into a position with deposit, life and desire. Just in time for the peak to be reached and about to slide off into the 'bad times' (for home owners). So now having to wait perhaps 6months, perhaps 12, perhaps 5years?! I'm definitely sitting out for 6months but after that be keeping a beedy eye on an opporutnity to afford a house that i can stay in for along time so that if things continue to get worse at least i can hide!
So, you got yourself near to the top of the pile for moving into owner occupation and now you are peeved that you didn't get the opportunity to leap over the cliffedge at its highest, along with the lemmings.

Don't worry, you are still just as near to the top of the pile, to get a mortgage as you ever were. And when you get to take on a mortgage, the cliff edge will be gone. In other words, if you buy at the bottom, you don't have to take all of the risks of negative equity.
After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
    To dissolve the people
    And elect another?

    sympatex,

    You must be my neighbour!!

The thing about Frimley Green and the surrounding area is that in general over the last 5 years house prices have increased around 5% annually. If you say that wage inflation over those years has been 4% annually you see that in real terms (relative to wages house prices have been flat). Now a great deal of the rest of the UK has seen prices almost double in that time, equating to around 15% annual increase.

In my opinion the South East is now the cheap part of the UK.

House prices are going to fall in the UK substantially. But not in all areas. I think Frimley green (Guildford) area will fall only marginally.

The fact is that the land registry figures are sales done December /January which completed in April/May.

I am an EA and prices have gone down every month since October and the only way that I could get sales figures back up is to put '50% off every property or BOGOF' across my window but I cant do that its not my property!!

I won't take that comment personally!
I have been in the business since 1982 so I have seen it all before.

No we aren't in a recession yet, but you'd be brave to bet against it.

I like the idea of BOGOF's for houses. Shame one can't persuade the vendors to play supermarket marketing / pricing tactics.

    Nasty moneysaver.

Sentiment towards EAs agreed, but we should all be capable of being cordial. Good luck.
