Kingston is the sticky-out bit on the south west
I stand corrected! Thank you.
Kingston police did used to be covered by Surrey police, but my information is obviously VERY out of date!

I tend to think, personally, that the "circle line" definition goes a bit too far west and not quite far enough East. It only just includes the City, but Bayswater and High St Ken aren't really "central" IMO....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

As I say, I can't remember having been to Bedford, my I imagine its fairly commutable to London, so even thouh that isnt a dream commuter home, the fact its in the SE will presumably be pushing prices up for other houses too. Its less dear than places I've seen in other home counties

Bedford isn't in the SE. Its north of Oxford and not too far from Northampton.. so no where near the SE. Maybe on the commuter belt, but not as near as you would imagine to London.
Also I have only lived in Gloucester 12 months so I wouldn't really know the market here too well at the moment, but its far more scenic than Bedford, so I think the house the OP mentioned originally is very overpriced for Bedford really as there is nothing there, apart from Milton Keynes a few miles down the road.0 -
It's one of those funny places that gets shunted around regionally.
BBC interactive weather lumps it in the EAST
A lot of EA sites refer to it as Home Counties
Some others call it South East
I've even seen it lumped into east Midlands

Been there once. Like me, these folk probably thought that it would be much nicer if it were put somewhere else............ :rotfl:0
