It's not close to central London - not even in London!

well technically, it is within the border's of greater london.
  • What does this mean?
    Popular Primeministers Area

The area is called primeministers because all the road names are ex-primeministers. Those who have lived there longer know it as Black Tom. Our house which we hope to exchange on next week is less than 50 meters from this area, 3 bed detached with offroad parking for 2/3 cars and a nice garden, etc. Because it was built in the 70's and doesn't have the "character" of those in Black Tom we got a very similar price for ours as this is on the market for.

You're right about the parking however. Black Tom has a lot of smaller houses and appartments that mean there are many more cars than there are space for them. And you have to park on the road.

    I thought it was Surrey?

It's certainly not central, anyway (-:

That 9.5 miles must mean there are something like 7 million people living closer to Westminster than people in Kingston, then!

    It's in Greater London.

The residents of Kingston like other boroughs on the outskirts of London i.e. Havering where able to vote for the London Mayor. If you live under the control of Surrey County Council like if you live under the control of Essex County Council you can't vote for London Mayor. (You can check the websites of Surrey County Council and Essex County Council to confirm whether they are in the area or in London.)

You are right it's not central but then neither are most places in London. The only place that can really be deemed Central London is The City of London or anything in underground zone 1.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

    Makes sense to me.

Kingston are covered by Surrey police.

At that time I was also loking at places like Guildford and Dorking places with good train services.

The only one I got close to commiting to was the kingston one.

There is a commonly accepted definition that Central London is the area inside the circle line "bottle"..
