Posters are always good, I remember when I moved into halls in the first year, how plain my walls looked! So I went out the next day and bought some funky posters to make my room look more personal!Wins for 2022: Hydratem8 Water bottle, diary, flowers, Good food show tickets, childrens books x3,
Thanks to all who post the comps & please let the comping fairy sprinkle dust on my entries!0 -
My Mum bought me a Swiss army knife, as it had everything on - a screwdriver so I could change a fuse, some great scissors, fine enought to cut hangnails or cuticles, a blade for cutting everything else and a bottle opener and a corkscrew! There is also the thing for getting boyscouts out of horses hooves, but I've used everything else!
I carved a whole BBQ'd lamb with it at a beach party and 20 years on I still carry it in my handbag (just have to remember to put in the hold baggage when flying!)
Not the most obvious thing, but everyone loves someone who has corkscrew with them at all times!0 -
Seeing as shes on a design course is there any chance she has a laptop? (Im a design student and we nearly all had mac laptops). It was one of my uni friends birthdays this week and I got them a new laptop case. He loves it as its handy but also a luxery item that he could never reason buying for himself. We just tend to go without those kinda things!Green and White Barmy Army!0

Useful for a student? An automatic corkscrew (to save all the hard work involved in opening a bottle). Or perhaps a hangover cure.0

Well, I've just been into town and got some of the stuff. I am on a budget, so didn't want to spend more than £10 really.
Anyway, I got:
A mug from Wilkos - 99p
A kilogram of pasta from Asda - £1.24
A wooden spoon from Wilkos - £0.23
A can of baked beans from Asda - £0.31
I was thinking for "free" I could copy out some recipes for her, I am not sure how much she'll cook, but it could help and a photo collage of us all
So, that leaves £7.23 to be spent on something. I probably won't buy a hamper, but decorate a box. I was thinking of getting some wine glasses, any other suggestions?
Thanks for all so far!0 -

Chocolate, coffee, paracetamol, corkscrew, sachets of hot chocolate, plasters, student cookbook, mini bottle of wine, highlighter pens, stamps, blank note cards
My mum did a hamper like this of a friend of mine, she wrapped it like an emergency box in red paper with acetate over the front and labelled it "in case of emergency break glass". looked really cool.:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
