  • that's what they are!

They are resilient little buggers! We went through cans and cans of stuff by Rentokill (bought in our local hardware store!) and apparently they are gone now... they are a nightmare, we all tried to convince ourselves that these bites were from mosquitos! "We're clean people we don't get fleas" etc....

Good luck with it all.. We ended up disposing of a completely infested mattress and spraying lots of cans of stuff

Good luck with it all ;)

Don't they also hide in cracks in the wallpaper / skirting board - anywhere really?

    They do unfortunately Savvy_Sue. :(

They reminded me of those weevil things (some people call them biscuit bugs), only bigger. But even though I can't remember how my Grandma got rid of them, once she did, they went forever. :)

    scooper?

This isn't a moneysaving suggestion, and I really do empathise with you, but can you hang on until whoever's supposed to call do call?

Stress that you have a baby and are worried sick.

I'm only suggesting this because buying some of the sprays etc might not help if your baby is so young. They could even hinder things.

If it's driving you nuts and feel you have to do something, why not boil wash what you can and put the stuff into clean, transparent plastic bags?

Hope it's all sorted soon :)

  • Just to confirm that the spray I gave the link too earlier seems to have done the job. I bought some for my girlfriend who had these little ****ers in her flat and a few weekly sprays and they seem to have gone. Hopefully for good!

    Hooray!

Probably a stupid question but how do you know if you have bed bugs?

Check your mattress cover and pillows for little brown patches. This is a sign that they have been feeding on you during the night.

We had a problem with them recently, so I chucked the bed and mattress out (found their eggs under the slats on the bed) ,emptied the room as best as I could, gave it a thorough hoovering and 2 days later the council sprayed all the carpet in there with insecticide. Slept in another room for a few weeks whilst waiting for a new bed to be delivered, have now moved back and since then have had no problems. Now using a metal framed bed as they can't climb smooth surfaces if they ever came back. Bed is also slightly away from the wall too.

The trick is to treat them as quickly as possible. I am 99% sure that they got into our house via a weekend in a holiday chalet in Cornwall a few months back (we used our own bedding). Those places are a haven for bugs.
If you wash bedding at 60 degrees then you kill anything on there, and tumble drying at a warm temerature gives you piece of mind too.

I am glad there is no brown patches, although I will get hubby to check in case I have missed anything. Our bed is metal frame and slightly away from the wall. I wash our bedding at 60 degrees and tumble dry them. I do not wash our duvet and pillows every week, should I? I want to be bed bug free, if possible.

we didnt even know we had them at all, untill the other night when i was in bed watching tv, when one crawled up my arm,i shouted my boyfriend up and said what is this?just 10 mins before that though there was one in my cup with juice in it, i then was putting two and two together as we had been getting bit but thought they were just midgy bites but then thought it must be bedbugs, went to look it up on the pc and thats how we knew, out went the bed and the mattress along with other items like a wicker chair(which they are supposed to like hiding in).
appreciate what you have got x
