I don't think you can. I am not an expert here, but when I unlocked my phone a while ago the software (for some reason) included the option to lock the phone, and there was a big list of probably every phone operator in the world, and each had a little code. From what I remember, the codes were different for operators in different countries, unfortunately.

bit of a moot point as orange in australia is based on cdma, which is a different technology to what was have here, ie gsm.

So, stop me if I'm being thick here, but where does this leave me re. using an Orange PAYG sim card in Oz? Will it or won't it work?

Have you got an Orange PAYG sim card for Oz??? Because CDMA is a different system not used in the UK - and CDMA phones don't have sim cards!

    Unlock the phone

There are 3 GSM networks - Optus, Telstra, Vodafone - and 3 mvno operators on them - AAPT, iSIM, Virgin.

I think I'd go for Vodafone, as calls to UK are $0.176, about 7p/min.
