  • My husbands a joiner and he reckons the panasonic ones are good.
He currently needs a replacement due the the 10 year+ old one being damaged by a careless work collegue. Does anyone know of any good sites I can get one of these on, and also a cashback site that covers powertools. Sorry to hijack this thread hope you don't think I'm being rude

screwfix have an offer on a twin pack of Makita's - £129.99 unless my memory serves me wrong - two drill, 2 batteries case etc.
  • Thank you so much for all your help. I had spotted Screwfix were advertising a Makita drill. I must have a look at the Erbauer on there too. Also I will look at Challenge, Panasonic, Bosch and Ryobi as suggested.

Again, thank you so much for your advice. I'll let you know which one I pick and how I get on!

The best is definately Panasonic & then Dewalt but really these are far too expensive for only doing diy. The best in my opinion for what you want it for is Black & Decker 18v Firestorm (try B&Q for price), i've used these professionally as a joiner & they are superb.......
What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!

I been umming and rring for a corded hammer drill for ages, dont make a lot of holes but every time I do, my cordless hammer drill (challenge) has flat battery and when it is charged doesnt last long and I cant drill through brick

I bought a cheap Tesco corded drill last year that last 1 day and binned it

Hi i'm a carpenter by trade.
Tip; don't buy any 3 speed models, even with the well know names.
I have used dewalt, makita, hilti & bosch for years.
My advice would be to buy a corded sds & just a cheep cordless drill driver for diy use. But if you can splash the cash buy makita with Li-ion batteries.
