Tesco Broadband

Saw Tesco was offering broadband now. - 512Kb for £19.99, modem is inculded (Have one already)

Anybody got anything to say about this service for or against.

Would hope that customer service is not bad because it would show against the whole Tesco group.

Thanks

  • Having been a long time supported of Tesco's internet service I have to say it failed badly at the introduction of their broadband service.

It was impossible to get through on the 30 day freephone line and when I got through on the 50p a minute line the guy didn't know that they had a downtime. Emails went unanswered too.

However, I was lucky and only had two days without broadband and will be putting in a claim for the dial up charges as they are refunding any days of lost service. Other people who were just joining at the time they had problems were much more unfortunate, with modems not arriving and being unable to connect at all.

I had signed up as soon as it became available and got my modem in plenty of time but the problems seemed to arrive a couple of weeks later when they had "under anticipated" the join up rate and where unable to cope.

BUT apart from these glitches a month or so ago I have been very happy with Tesco broadband as I was with their dial up service and am about to sign up the office for the service.
  • Thanks for that edinburghlass

I was speaking to someone and they had said that the new broadband service was realy busy.

The only prob with changing ISp is the email hassle!!!!

The service is run by NTL on behalf of Tesco.

Sorry but I would think the problems you have had have been with the hardware you have used rather than Tesco as an ISP. I have been wireless with Tesco for 18 months with no problems whatsoever.

I had this problem, the way I sorted it was setting the router clock to be correct and pressing the connect button a few times, this worked for my 3com router.
    hope this helps

Ive been with Tesco broadband for what must be around 2 years now. Had no problems what so ever.
Started off on the unlimted 512k, then went wireless (Netgear DG834g), then went over to 1mb capped at 3gb per month.
Like I said no problems whatsoever aprt from a very vague memory of maybe one day when i couldnt connect becuase their service was down.
They are more expensive than some of the others, but im happy to pay a few quid more each month knowing ive got a reliable service.

Does anyone know if TESCO VALUE BROADBAND is any good? 1GB monthly usage limit and 512k connection for £13.97 a month. I only use internet for shopping and browsing etc. so not much downloading.
