O2 vs Namesco

Im thinking of getting rid of my Namesco broadband in favour of O2.
I currently pay £19.99 a month for 8mb speed and 10 gig download limit.
I know O2 is £12.50 for 8mb with no download limit.
seems a no brainer. But will O2 be as good? I have rarely had problems with Namesco
I am apparently 1.2km from the exchange.
I currently get around 5mb connection rate from Namesco.
Is this ADSL?
Will the LLU O2 connection be as good or better?

Been with O2 for 2-3 months now. Key points below:
1. Fantastic customer service - the CS folks will actually work to resolve any issues
2. Speed - I've noticed a 4mb jump since I migrated to them (looking at filtered faceplates and other tricks to improve this further)
3. Cost - I've saved roughly £12 per month over my previous supplier
4. O2 Wireless Box (v2) - AVOID!! Mine was unstable, took ages to boot up, dropped connection regularly and reduced the speed I was getting. Switched back to my previous router and the speed jumped by over 2mb.
Reviews on the forums are positive...unlike those for Orange! I took a punt with O2 and tied in for a 12 month contract. Will obviously review when that is up and make a decision on whether I stick or move on...0 -
O2 are fantastic in my opinion, much better than Pipex.
Don't forget to go through Quidco for £25 cashback. No reliance should be placed on the above.0 -

thanks, I have signed up via Quidco and it has tracked.
is there any way round paying both Namesco and O2 for the same month? I have 30 day notice period for Namesco - next payment is due 03/07/08. I expect the O2 service to start very soon after that so in effect I will have paid twice for the same month.0 -
Also if you have a mobile phone account with O2, either contract or pay as you go they will deduct FIVE POUNDS a month off the internet charge of £12.50. I moved my pay as you go mobile account from Vodafone to them, and the quality is just as good. There is a minimum top up requirement for pay as you go to maintain this discount, and i think it is £10 ever three months which is not a lot.
The quality of the O2 broadband is first class though they only started it less than a year ago. The quality may go down a bit if they start recruiting massive numbers of new customers. Although they tout it as unlimited download broadband there is a discrete "fair usage" clause in there. And I agree that Orange offers poor quality0
