oneredbull .. i really feel for you situation, being a severn trent customer i was without water for 2 weeks with a further 2 weeks 'do not drink' order. there will undoubtably be extra costs of dealing saftley with the situation, ie boiling water, unfortunatly this is a fact of life. i could not wash my uniform and had to start wearing my smater clothes to work eventually i had to buy more smart clothes to work in as my washing could not be done. water boards are very quick to warn of the propblems but very slow to react. it was 4 days before the first bowser apeared in the area i lived in - and it emptied in under a hour- 36 hours before it was refilled. i had tried to get bottled water but the water collection points had initially run out was i was at work. luckily i was working out of the area the next day and was able to buy bottled water on my way home from the other side of bristol. if anyone in your household works outside the affected area get them to buy bottled water there as it will be impossable to get locally. baby wipes are good for cleaning hands and anti bac wipes are good for kitchen and barthroom cleaning (not very money saving but in these situations health and hygeiene are more important!!) hopefully anglia water will start to make better provision soon and provide bottled water. we had bowsers but the water still needed boiling if it was to be used unless for flushing!! not advised for much as local yobs found it funny to pee in bowsers!! even once the supply was restored it was not cleared for consumption and severn trent continued to supply bottled water untill the supply was safe.. bottled water is the way forward - how do parents tell thirsty kids they cant have a drink untill the kettle has cooled!!
as for websites severn trent were particually slow at updating theirs - local council were much better and quicker way of getting info:mad:
i hope your situation eases soon - and that anglia pulls its finger out - just be greatfull they spotted the problem quickly and issued a do not drink notice! you will find ways of coping (not without extra cost unfortunatly but the health and safty of your household is more important) all the best, take care and stay safe.

I saw the scrum for bottled water on the news last night and I have to say I feel for you guys down there
terrible isn't it - its sad to say but gloucestershire has to get the army in to help with water distribution:mad:Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0 -
An interesting thought....
Anglian Water have posted thousands of leaflets through our letterboxes today, explaining when to boil water etc...I wonder how much this has cost them .0 -
Check if your household is at risk from the cryptosporidium parasite, visit https://www.boilcheck.co.uk or https://www.boilcheck.com and enter your postcode.0

Alot of money, staff are drafted from all over to drop leaflets, no expense will be spared to inform everyone as its a very serious matter0 -
Anglian Water said the bug was found inside the "treatment works" and not the water in the Reservoir.

A think this is just the start, a mere drop in the ocean.
We are being drip fed this information. I'd like this scenario to be washed away.0 -
Onredbull, I also feel for you and hope you and your family come through OK.
It might be a good idea to keep all receipts for bottled water bought and also, if you can, compare electricity usage with the same period last year.
Try and record any additional activities you and your family have had to perform because of this.
Once over have a go at costing all of these and request compensation.
I hope this helps; Best of luck!0 -
