About 250,000 people in Northamptonshire are being told to boil tap water for drinking after a bug was found to have contaminated supplies.
Tests found cryptosporidium in a sample from supplies to Northampton, Daventry and surrounding villages.
The parasite causes stomach upsets and the most common symptom is diarrhoea.
Twenty schools in the area that rely on tap water for drinking fountains have now shut. Anglian Water scientists are trying to trace the bug's source.
About 108,000 homes across 85 communities in the north of Northamptonshire are affected by the contamination.
Anglian Water vans equipped with loudspeakers have been sent out to warn people about the problem.

Anglian Water
There is a pleasure in the pathless woods, There is a rapture on the lonely shore, There is society, where none intrudes, By the deep sea, and music in its roar: I love not man the less, but Nature more...

Any chance this could be moved to a thread to get more coverage and hopefully some advise on saving water please ?
As myself (like many others) who live in the affected area and have been told that the testing & cleaning of  cryptosporidium paracite:eek: in the water could go on for a matter of weeks.:eek:Looking for some advise and money saving ideas as will be spending money (I havent got) and getting in more debt (through no fault of my own) with the following:-1. Using more water than usual - added expense when on a meter.
2. Have to boil the water by kettle or saucepan which uses electric that I usually would not use, which is more expense.
3.Kids have to fill a bottle of boiled cooled water and take in to school until futher notice - as advised from school today.
4. Add on a few extra purchases of bottled water at the added expense - usually i quick rinse the bottle used and re-fill and put in fridge for next use.
5. Food preperation like salads - water needed to clean the salad needs to be boiled and cooled first.
6. Water needs to be boiled and cooled first before using to clean teeth x 2 daily x 3 family members.
Can anyone help and/or advise the customers of anglian water on what we can do (if anything) and how to save money without getting ill ?
Many Thanks.~~~~~~~~~~~~:kisses3: "In Raising Your Children;" :kisses3:"Spend Half As Much Money n Twice As Much Time."0 -

And the need for pedanticism was what exactly?
The posters in this thread have come to it for help and assistance during what must be a very difficult time for householders in that area.
Nobody called the grammar police.0 -

Surely it should be 'pedantry', not 'pedanticism' ???"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
pedanticism1. the character or practices of a pedant, as excessive display of learning.
2. a slavish attention to rules, details, etc; pedantry. — pedant, n. — pedantic, adj.
Now for gods sake can we let these people try and work their way through their situation without the onslaught of idiots and pedants0 -
Thank You :A pulliptears.
Maybe I was mis-understood in my 1st thread when asking for some
"ADVICE!"
The ADVICE I was asking about was
 'any money saving ideas'
to help in this situation as I'll be spending extra money on gas, electricity, bottled water, other costs.
I wasn't asking for ADVICE on the rules of spelling and sentence structures - but Thanks:rolleyes2trisontana:rolleyes:for correcting me on my thread written at 02:41am as I had other things on my mind while also boiling water ready for kids to take to school.~~~~~~~~~~~~:kisses3: "In Raising Your Children;" :kisses3:"Spend Half As Much Money n Twice As Much Time."0 -
Oneredbull, are the local authorities bringing in water tankers for you to fill up from?
I saw the scrum for bottled water on the news last night and I have to say I feel for you guys down there.
Doesnt look like Anglian water are offering any real advice either does it?
Good luck with it.

I dont know, I know when they have had water problems in the past the Water Boards usually bring stand pipes into the streets so you can fill up, but it may be different in this case if the whole supply is contaminated.
I'd say keep an eye on the updates on Anglian's website:
