British Gas over 1 hour on hold

i've been on hold for 1 hour and 5 minutes now waiting to spk to a british gas representative.....is this normal........would it be quicker for me to change provider and phone someone else up :-)

I'm afraid this is normal. I have even tried at 7.30am and been put on hold. I have never yet been able to speak to a real person! I have also emailed and they don't answer that either.

In fact the only time I get an email is when they want me to sign up to the BG Price Freeze - that'll be right!

It's an 0845 number usually, although I've used their geographical number to get it free - had to give up just before my hour though.

its over 1 hour 45 mins now.....still on hold

ive used saynoto0870 to get the geogrphical number and phoned using 1899...so its luckily not cost me more than 3p....just cant believe that i am still on hold

No idea...they've never had me on hold that long before. With our providers its usually just a couple of minutes.

I've been put on hold with them a few times but never that long. Did you get through in the end? What about if you were in a call box or on a mobile? On the back of the bill there is an address for complaints. If I were you I would write to them and ask for a reimbursement on your gas bill otherwise you'll go to another company. I bet they will honour it.

What has happened to me before (not with BG) is being on hold for ages and then the line has gone dead. :mad:
