Orange Answerphone

I am on orange PAYG as I do not make many outgoing calls on this phone. It is mainly for when people need to contact me. I do get the occasional message left on the answer phone but now when I go to retrieve it I now get a long (and I mean long) message on the advantages of recording my own outgoing message and no option to listen to my messages until I have done so. I do not wish to record an out going message and it infuriates me to pay money to listen to a smug voice telling me how easy it is. Perhaps I should record an out going message that says "Hello, I refuse to use the orange answer phone service as it is a rip off on Pay As You Go, I have your number and will ring you back on a cheaper landline" !!! I feel this method Orange have adopted of making you do something you do not want to do AND use up your pay as you go credit is extremely unfair and a rip off. Would like to know what others peoples experience of this is.

Or you could just turn off the answerphone and simply call people back from their number as you have said.

Just switching off the answerphone does not work with Orange, I phoned CS and they switched it off for me.

Can you check your voicemail from a different number? That might work out better.

a) add divert to answerphone - therefore no answerphone messages can be left. (has to be requested via CS)

b) ask them to remove the long message telling you of the advantages of the answerphone.

CS will do this for you, they add a product code to your account & it should be sorted within 24hrs... i did this on my PAYG orange sim you just have to get through to someone who know's that this is possible!!
