    Hi,

Have you looked at the options with the DVLA with 'fake' auto/manuals. Like the CVT/Easy or Flappy Paddle type gearboxes?

One might come under Manual for your test, therefore removing the license issue?

Also depends on the car with where the biting point is, my old 306 had about a foot of clutch travel, the top inch being the difference between not in gear and not on the clutch. Might be a trial and error affair, there no need to put it all the way to the floor if you don't need to, and you can sort out the pool car issue later. To be honest most of the pool cars i use, bmw, merc etc... are auto anyway...

A friend at university had a semi-automatic Toyota Yaris (back in 2001) which I'm fairly sure had no clutch. Unfortunately I'm also fairly sure he only had an automatic licence so I think the DVLA may class those types of car as autos. I stand to be corrected if anyone knows more though.

I'd certainly hope they'd be classed as automatics. It's a frightening thought that someone might pass a test in an automatic and then be able to get a manual licence without taking another test!
