JET2 - reassurance please!

Hi just about to book my flights with jet 2 for ncle-tenerife and was hoping someone can share their experiences of jet2 with a bit longer flight. I was ready to book with thomas cook as some reviews I had read about jet2 there was back feedback about the old planes etc. However then the Which mag landed on my mat and Jet2 came out 12 out of 43 for customer satisfaction and thomas cook were right at the bottom - number 43 I think!!!
Needless to say this has changed my mind but just before I book I could do with a bit more assurance - I am a panic flyer and my longest flight has only been 3 hours!!!

Jet2 are fine, just as succeptable to a delay or whatever than any other airline. Also consider that when reading review websites, people are far more likely to write a very bad review, than to write a good review. Most people who have perfectly fine flights won't even consider writing a review, people who haev bad ones will have an axe to grind.
Regards old planes, Thomas Cook have quite a few older aircraft as well, old doesn't necessarily mean unsafe.0 -
went to lanzarote in may with jet2 could not fault the airline been with them 3 times before also no complaints0

I flew with Jet2 a few weeks ago, our outward flight was slightly early and our inbound flight 25 minutes early. No problems at all. If the planes were old, we couldn't tell.

I have flown to Tenerife with Jet2, they look for any way at all to nail you with extra charges, we flew from Leeds Bradford, we were 1 kg and 2 KG over with two cases, and they charged us £15 excess, which I thought was out of order but, as they say, rules is rules.
I also flew from Newcastle to Heathrow, couldn't make the return flight and tried to claim back the airport taxes etc, what a co-incidence that their admin fee came to the same as taxes!
Yes, they are sharp, personally I would look elsewhere but you takes your chance!
Incidentally, if you do have to pay for excess luggage, make sure you pay by credit card as I have been told that some airlines ground staff pocket any cash.

The only issue I have with Jet 2 is the leather seats on some of their planes - you slide around on them!0

So you bought a ticket that said you could take X amount luggage and you took Y, and they charged you, as they said they would. Hardly sharp practice, and £5 a kilo isn't bad, most airlines are £7/kilo now.I also flew from Newcastle to Heathrow, couldn't make the return flight and tried to claim back the airport taxes etc, what a co-incidence that their admin fee came to the same as taxes!
Aside from the fact Jet2 do not, and have never flown to or from Heathrow, this is again standard practice with most airlines. Saying they have sharp practice is a little unfair, they are no worse than any other low cost airline. I'm not saying each of their practices is right, just that they are on a level with most other carriers in the same market place. Sometimes I wonder what people expect from low cost airlines; you pays your money you takes your choices!0 -
We flew with Jet2 to Palma a few weeks ago and couldn't fault them. The plane seemed to be quite new, my oh (who is 6' 2") said it was the most legroom he's had for ages and it was a really quiet flight. If I could pick one 'problem' it would be having to get a bus from the gate (manchester) to the plane but its not that much of a problem. We will definately be flying with them again.

Like others on this thread I cannot fault Jet2.com with their planes and services.
Last year I spotted a name error that others report have cost them a lot of money to change. I made sure I was at Leeds/Bradford with plenty of time and went to the sales desk. Explained the problem, and the reaction was "no problem sir I will change it now on my computer". I asked how much, and was told there is no charge.0
