my new mobile phone bought from carphone warehouse with vodafone has been playing up since i got it. i kept all of my old phone numbers on my old mobile phone and the screen has cracked up on this that i cannot view them and have to this effect lost about 300 contacts unless i can find a solution. carphone warehouse have suggested i buy the same phone ago for £70 just so that i can read the contacts and write them down. I told them that i thought this was a lot of money and they have said that this is the only option. i believe that one IT guy who's a friend of a friend has said otherwise. any tips would be appreciated. not sure of phone model but it was one of the first nokia camera phone (some people say it looks liek a remote control!).
thanks for your help!

Is the old an new phone both Vodafone?

If so just swap sim cards and read/write the old numbers then swap em back again
and then manually insert the contacts, If not go to a Vodafone shop and because
youve just gone with em they can usually do a contacts lixt transfer for no money
or get a data cable for the old phone and transfer to PC if you can.

ok - you should have several options (one of which is NOT buying the same handset again just to solve the problem). you'll note i said 'should' though :)

try this: http://europe.nokia.com/nokia/0,8764,72059,00.html for a variety of ways to get the data off the old phone.

if none of that works or you can't use the options for whatever reason can you go to https://www.nokia.com and browse through the phones on there - you'll be able to find the phone you have and tell us what it is - that will help if you need to post again on this.

also - bear in mind that different manufacturers store contacts in different ways so if you're going from say Nokia to Sony Ericsson your contacts are going to get messed up. the way to avoid this is to go from Nokia -> Outlook -> SE. that way you'll also have a back up on the pc too.
