Mine says 5.5. Sorry but I don't buy that!!

I recycle, I use public transport, walk and cycle sometimes and rarely fly. I have cut right down on cleaning prods and love my bicarb and vinegar and ecowashballs. Though I do have electricity it is conserved as much as possible and I still haven not used my gas fire this winter... I also use certain resuable feminine products that I am convinced have a huge positive effect on the planet. (but there is no option to tell the test these things for the most part!!) I only chuck away one carrier full of rubbish a week, if that...

Yes I have a car, but it is an efficient little thing that I rarely use on my own but instead offer lifts to friends when we need to buy heavy things and we share the cost of petrol. I live on my own in a tiny flat in a block, maybe it doesn't like that!? I think I am more environmentally friendly than the average person but it doesn't...

Well done the rest of you, looks like I'm the bad one!! Though I don't think I am! :)

    what an excellent quiz :)

    mine is 2.6

but I did it again using the way people live in 2 places I've visited to see how differently it would turn out

    villa in Florida = 20!

Kenya = 1 ... this was based on a hut-type dwelling with no electricity or running water! don't think I could manage that

Hmmmmmmmm not good, 2.3 so we need 1.3 planets if all lived like me. On the plus side my council is now collecting plastic and tin for recycling :D:D:D
    WW Start Weight 18/04/12 = 19st 11lbs
    Weight today = 17st 6.5lbs
    Loss to date 32.5lbs!!!
  • I don't understand some of the questions as all my calculations are done in old money not litres and hectares! I got 4.7 but I'm not sure that was a proper test! I'm quite ecologically minded, so slightly put out!
  • Gosh mine turned out to be 3.1 - this is really bad news. I really, really thought I was doing some good for the Planet and the creatures who live on the Planet with re-cycling, composting anything that moves or used to move, fuel efficient small car, very low annual mileage, no flying, walking, growing own veggies, gas and electricity reduced to minimum, water bill less than £8.00 per month – phew…I need to look into this again….sob….

I am not sure why what country you live in matters - but turns out I picked the wrong one - I did it again with the UK (where I do live!) and got 2.2

Whaat?! And I was so angry when I originally got 5.5 choosing the wrong country!!

I have a foot print of 4 (Gulp) meaning I need 2 1/2 planets - It must be eating meat and dairy that bumps it up. I grow all my own veg (aren't allowed to grow pigs on allotments in Lewisham LOL)

We have one car, but I don't drive it, I walk/cycle/bus most places and only fly at Halloween! Recycle everything, Council are about to start taking plastic too :j .Manically switch off lights and don't have central heating. I think apart from the meat/dairy thing they assume a level of energy usage for living in a city, regardless of your personal habits.

    But interesting.....

    Regards

I couldn't work out how to say where I lived so I did it twice and got 2.2 and 2.4 using the same answers both times.

I got 4 too- I don't drive, walk just about everywhere, buy most of my food in local shops and only take a foreign holiday every 2-3 yrs!

We do have electricity, have gas central heating and DH drives 12 miles to work- it would take him over an hour by train and about a week by bus!Our car is quite big too- needs to be to transport all DDs stuff around the country.

Well you may not all be pleased with yourselves, and the quiz certainly doesn't cover much in the way of the means we individually use to cut down our impact - and I'm sure there's a weighting for which country you live in, and ours, being industrialised, means we get clobbered more than someone living in the bush :)

But the UK average even by those rough and ready standards is 5.3 and most of us are under it and most of us, too, know that in very real terms we are even better than our figures suggest.

But it certainly gives pause for thought, dunnit? :)
