Your Ecological Footprint

Found this quiz to see how 'eco' friendly we are, it calculates your 'ecological footprint' based on lifestyle info you give. The email address field is optional, so you can leave it blank.

 I thought I was pretty good but it tells me that my footprint is 2.9 and that if everybody lived like me we'd need 1.6 planets.
I can't see what I can change. I don't have car, walk most places or use public transport (rarely), live in a terrace so could only move to an apartment block... I know for sure I produce waa-a-ay less waste than all my neighbours... I suppose I could give up electricity...?

 ARHHHH. Mine's 3.3 although the average for the UK is 5.3. We generate far less waste than out neighbours and I walk most places. I think the downfall was the amount of imported food we buy. - Great quiz and certainly makes you think.
Ok just for research purposes I've gone back and re-done the quiz. I'm a strict vegan who hasn't heard of pagaged food. I go no where and do nothing that I can't do on foot. Flying is left for the birds and my home which I share with 5 others is the size of a postage stamp. I have allowed myself the luxury of running water and a bit of leccy tho! I score 1.6:rotfl:Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -
Squeaky, I think your footprint is very good! We have to fly a lot with work, and so ours is really bad, even though we do everything we can to minimise the flights and everything else.
The FAQ's at the end do say that it's in a basic form at the moment, and also says that recycling etc which your an expert at, does reduce your footprint.
The FAQ's are worth a read.0 -
I'll wander back and read those shortly... bit busy just nowHi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. I just did it again. Since my usage of some things is a lot closer to zero than it is to the next minimal figure (which I ticked the first time round) I gave myself the benefit and came down to 1.6
I reckon I'm probably somewhere between the two. I just did the test and my eco footprint is 1.8 so if everyone lived like me then we can exist with just the one planet :j
I think the only way I could get that even lower would be to turn totally vegetarian "An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

This is such a good spin off from the No Waste talk that I think I'll catch it now while it is still manageable and split it into its very own thread.
To save confusion I'll lock this thread while I'm doing it and then unlock it again once done.
Look for a new thread called "Your ecological footprint"Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there.
