best deal we ever had was a wet day at the end of November. no one buys cars near christmas the guy was desperate for any sale....
I always go with the theory that unless you are buying something very special and unique there will be another car in the next dealers forecourt. I was looking at a car last week which the salesman was pushing really hard...I didn't buy it but when I went back for another look he now had three the of the same in stock.....same price better mileage.

Don't be frightened to ask when the timing belt was last done. If they don't know, or try and fob you off, mention you know it costs £200-£300, and see if they knock a bit more off. And it is essential you know if it's been done within the service schedule, or sooner.
