My M-I-Law is after a new nokia to replace her 3310 that is broke.

She wants a basic O2 pay as you go phone and will be putting her own sim in it.

Has anyone seen any good, cheap, easy to use phones anywhere ?

Yep, Nokia 6030 is good value at £29.99 - check out this thread:

In terms of a "no-frills" easy to operate Nokia, the 1100 is hard to beat. It is also compact and robust with an exceptional battery life, and should be pretty similar to her old 3310 in terms of operation (only slightly smaller and lighter). However, not sure if O2 do them so you'd have to buy, say, a Virgin phone and unlock it (there's also a thread running on this).

.....and no I'm not just singing the 1100s praises because I have a brand new unlocked one for sale on eBay at the moment - HONEST !!!!!

erm, this IS his MOTHER-IN-LAW - I think he's being rather generous buying her a mobile phone in the first place !!!!!! (only kidding ...... I'm sure she's a really nice person)

If you're looking for the Nokia 6030 try here:
    http://shop.o2.co.uk/student/o2uk/jsp/handset/ViewHandset.do?menu=y&prodID=consumer:NOK:6030:GROUP

It's a nice phone for the money - but the Nokia 1100 is hard to beat in terms of ease-of-use (ideal for technophobes who just want a no-nonsense phone without all the bells and whistles).

Whoopee - this is my 100th post :j (only another 944 to go to catch you up, rob !)

Not sure how easy it is to unlock, but clearly this won't be an issue since you intend to use it on the O2 network. Reviews aren't brilliant though (but for the price, I don't think you can go far wrong):

The Nokia 6030 seems to be so popular because it's very easy to unlock for people who want to use it on a different network.
