help - shared house phone bill

hi,

I'm a bit stuck with a situation ...

The phone bill for my shared rented house has just come in again. Last time one of the tenants I live with run up a HUGE phone bill ringing her bf and she is still paying that off in installments... so the LL put a barr on the phone and says he has only given me the number to take it off but there's loads of calls I dont recognise. I have just emailed the LL and this is what he has said ...
"Concerning the phone bill, you are the only person with the barring code and only you can use the phone. Any phone calls to Leyland have probably been made by Laura, you could have forgotten to put the barr back on perhaps..

I’ve taken the £30 pounds off the phone bill on me this time. And I know you try hard to find out about all the calls, thank you for that.

Hopefully this billed can be paid in full... I might otherwise have to change the phone line to incoming calls only."

I cant afford to pay it all, how can I go about finding out who made these calls. I would like to ring the numbers as there's 3 main numbers which have been called but I havent a clue what to say ... or whether they will lie. And whether the LL will accept that as supposably im the only one with the barr password.

What can I do?

i would personally get him to put it to incoming calls, whats wrong with using a mobile? if you even got vodafone, they give you free texts and calls every weekend, pay as you go, rather than be saddled with a bill, its best not to get into this situation again tbh x

There's nothing wrong with using a mobile for short calls but since I cant afford a contract then I prefer to use a landline for the calls which might be longer....

tell everyone in the house to own up and pay up or your having the phone cut off forever?
Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.

isnt there anyway that these calls couldve been reversed at all? you can only try to get the culprit who ran this bill really

Have it cut off if they won't cough up.

As I said I'm the only one who supposably is able to use it so if it is cut off then it shouldnt bother them....

Theyre answer is likely to be that they cant use it as there is a barr on it .... whats the answer to that?????

Any suggestions on what I can do to find out who is making these calls??? Surely someone else has been in a similar situation....

Have you looked at what days/times they are to narrow it down?
I presume they're all in times you were out, but are they at times only one other person is ever in?

Either ring the number they've been calling and ask who they know in your house r pay it and get it disconnected or incoming only.
