TalkTalk ISP

Moneysavers!

Please don't be lured into signing up with TalkTalk. Yes, attractive offers. I changed to them after many years with Freeserve (Orange). Initially the service was good. Smooth changeover and easy connection. Then the problems! Incorrect billing. Landline down for 4 days and no response from their Customer Services. I couldn't phone them to report the fault. Over 20 emails got no response. Who turned up to resolve the problem? Good old BT!
Think twice about TalkTalk. If you need to talk to a real human there, then you have to go through the most tedious options. Chuckle, they have introduced a new feature while you are hanging on. Instead of musak, they now have a little story and some poetry! You can listen to your own life ticking away!

Stay with BT internet and phone services. They own the lines and maintain them.

TalkTalk is not recommended.

    Stay with BT?

Why - there are loads of alternatives - do you work for them perchance?

    Hello Vernon,

Firstly sorry for any issues you may have had. BT own all the lines and so no matter who you go to for a broadband service "apart from cable" you are going to be using a BT line.

I work for TalkTalk and am human, are you still with us, what problems are you experiencing.

    Thanks
    Stephen

I had no idea who would turn up to fix the line. The whole telecoms system has become become the new spaghetti junction of the 21st century. Sad that you couldn't understand my concern. No phone, no mobile and over 20 emails unanswered by Talktalk. Your view was trite, sarcastic and unhelpful.

Many thanks Stephen. Best coherent response I have received as a newbie. Thank you. I am back on track. Phone line restored. Now able to talk to Customer Services again about a billing issue. I provided accurate Direct Debit details. TalkTalk said they were unable to secure the initial payment. My bank tells me that there is no problem with the Direct Debit. Just one final irritation to resolve!
  • My experience with talk talk is similar to yours. I signed up with them in September for free broadband, which took until Feb08 to be connected. I have had endless problems. Then they started charging me for the broadband. I complained and threatened ofcom and then someone called me to advise i am being charged because my phone number is a cable number and i need a bt phone number. I am going back to bt to see if they are any better.

If you intend to try TalkTalk have a word with other users of TalkTalk in your
neighbourhood, if possible and then check how they are getting on.I was wary of going with TalkTalk but their monthly £20.49 deal was so good that I did investigate.I have been on TalkTalk now for several months and I have had no problems whatsoever and neither have my collegues.Maybe for once I have been
lucky.I cannot comment on how they resolve problems because I haven`t had any.

It's extremely unwise to move line rental away from BT. You'll see many posts from many different people who post the sensible thing to do.

Only the unwise move line rental away from BT.

No I don't work for BT.

I would steer clear of the awful TalkTalk too, dreadful service - poor broadband and poor support.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

They tried to bill me for months after I no longer had their dreadful service, they even put marks on my credit file, that took a while to sort out.
