why oh why oh why do people spend this amount of money on ebay, knowing it's a haven for scammers?
You're gonna need a bigger brush for a generalisation of that scale!!!!
"Thank-you for your support", on behalf of all the genuine high value sellers on eBay.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
i think you'll need to read what i said.
i didn't say you're all scammers.
i said it's a haven for scammers.

their - 'owned by them'

I dont know if i will be able to get my money back
ive signed for the special delivery and i dont know if someone at the royal mail has taken the vouchers or the seller never sent them
Do i have a case or have i lost all my money

Have you spoken to Paypal about this? Given that you paid for the item with their services, and would be eligible for some protection when things go wrong, they should be the obvious first port of call, rather than a message board where you are more likely to get confused and battered by opinion rather than fact.
Login to Paypal, look at the very bottom of the screen for a link marked "Contact Us", Then click the link marked Service Centre under the Help by Phone section.
You will be given a PIN number that lasts for one hour and a phone number to call them.
Rather than listening to lots of "what ifs'" or maybe this "could be done", one phonecall to paypal themselves will tell you EXACTLY what can be done.
Also, just consider if somebody came to the board and posted this.
"Recently I won £400 worth of Argos Vouchers, but I decided to sell them instead as I need the money. I sent the vouchers straight away by Special Delivery, but now the buyer is now claiming they received an empty envelope, but despite claiming it was tampered with they still signed for it.
What do I do?"
The details are the same as you have originally stated, just from a different perspective, which is why it is more important to establish facts rather than opinion.
There is only one recent listing for £400 of Argos vouchers that I could find, sold on 14th June, positive feedback left 3 days later on 17th June - 200230991750. It does not look good for either party if that is the same transaction....<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
never thought of it on the other side of things. So they could think that im conning them and im just the buyer0

And the buyer is No longer registered of that auction.......strange0

Oh, and you have no recourse to claim from RM, only the sender can as he is the one with the contract.
BUT, as Premier has cleared up the chances of a successful claim vs. post office, that's not looking good. It won't hurt your case if you complain to the PO now, just to get something on record. (i.e. I signed for it, opened it and then noticed that it was empty. Looking more closely, I could see evidence of tampering).
I was going to suggest a similar thing with the police, but I suspect you've have <0% chance of any joy there. The main thing is to be able to show PayPal that you have tried to report the issue as soon as possible after noticing the tampering.0 -

Just my opinion but buying £400 off argos vouchers off ebay is just asking for trouble. Why would anyone have these in the first place?0

I spotted that too, but the end date is still showing as 22nd June in the completed search results.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0
